DISH OF THE WEEK # 57 – MICHAEL FASSBENDER

Oh dear!!
It looks like I’m developing a bit of a crush on Michael Fassbender!

I’ve only seen him in his 2 X-Men movies, Prometheus and Eden Lake but that has been enough to peek my attention.
After seeing him goof around with Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy promoting X-Men Days of Future Past, I have really warmed to him.
That accent and that shark of a smile are incredible!!

It only seems right that he officially becomes my Dish of the Week number 57.

There is no denying I have a soft spot for the younger Magneto.

Fassbender 03

Prometheus was intriguing but I’m not sure about the blonde.

Fassbender 06

Eden Lake started off beautifully…..

Fassbender 04

But ended rather badly!!

Fassbender 05

These three are a real hoot together.

I am holding my breath for the release of Assassins Creed that seem to have been in pre production for…. forever!!

Michael Fassbender is still the only name listed in the cast.
I really hope this film gets off the ground.
I can’t imagine a better story to bring to the big screen.
If it’s done right it could be amazing.

IT’S STARTING

It’s that time of year.
The weather is getting better, although you wouldn’t think so today and my need to blog on a daily basis is tailing off.
I start off with all good intentions at the beginning of the year to blog at least once a day.

Anyway, nothing much has happened to blog about really so you haven’t missed much.

I watched August: Osage County last night.
What a disappointment that was!!
I found it horrendously tedious.
The only good thing about it was Meryl Streep who certainly earned that Oscar nomination.

Anyway, I’m making up for that disappointment today by taking Murron to go and see X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Any excuse to go see it again, it’s brilliant!!

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

X-Men Days of Future Past is absolutely bloody brilliant!!!

That has to be the best one yet.
I sincerely hope we see more of Quicksilver in the next one, he was fantastic!!

The Magneto breakout scenes were some of the best use of mutant ability scenes EVER.

Quicksilver

Quicksilver2

That’s as much as I’m going to say because I don’t want to spoil it for people who want to go see it.
All I’ll confirm is that you definitely need to watch right to the end of the titles.

IS IT THE COSTUMES OR THE MUSCLES – UPDATED

Way back on February 7th 2012 I posted a blog entitled ‘Is it the Costumes or the Muscles’
https://mumofthreedevils.wordpress.com/2012/02/07/is-it-the-costumes-or-the-muscles/

Anyway, I thought it was about time that was updated because there have been some amazing films since I posted that blog and I have come to the conclusion that it is most definitely the costumes that grab my attention before complete obsession of the actor takes over!!

The first mid life crisis obsession was Dredd with Karl Urban.
I really don’t know why I became so obsessed with this character.
I never read the comics and didn’t know much about him apart from what my husband had told me.
However, in Sept 2012, along came Dredd.
I went to the cinema with my husband and……

Dredd 1

WHAM!!!
Mid life crisis obsession number one had started.
For the next 17 months, Karl Urban was my number one obsession.

I watched everything I could lay my hands on and added to my film collection with 18 of his films!

I’ve got to know him and who he is as a person.
How he’s a complete geek himself and loves his job and his fans.
He’s even named one of his sons Indiana after one of his favourite film characters.
He’s only 3 years younger than me.
He loves surfing.
He loves Star Trek and idolised his nemesis, DeForest Kelley, who played Dr McCoy in Star Trek, a role he has now made his own in the re-boot.

I love him and I still love him.

However…..
February 7th 2014 and a trip to the cinema to see a re-boot of a childhood favourite has bumped poor Karl down a peg.

Robocop.
robo

I loved the original Robocop with Peter Weller and I was intrigued to see how it could be brought up to date.
I did not expect to love it as much as I did and I certainly didn’t expect to become quite so obsessed with the actor taking on the role.

Joel Kinnaman is beautiful.
He is absolutely adorable in ‘In Your Veins’, heartbreaking in Johan Falk and completely naive in Easy Money.

Joel 06

I cannot get enough of him!!
He’s added to my film collection by 7 films and Robocop is due out on Bluray in 18 days!!
Frustrating thing is that he’s only just really taking off so I’ve already seen all I can see and am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what he does next!!
I can’t wait to see the last series of The Killing on Netflix in August.
Steven Holder is probably his best character to date.

Ex drug addict, streetwise and cocky Detective.

Holder 02

I have just realised I’m getting completely off topic!!

The whole reason for this blog is costumes.
My past 2 obsessions have kicked off because of costumes.
Costumes that virtually cover the actors faces!!

Superheroes in general have become a lot hotter in recent years.
Gone is the spandex, camp and comic book look.
In is the pumped, tough and leather ‘new’ comic book look.

Superheroes 3

Is it any wonder I love superhero movies?
I can’t wait to see the new X-Men movie tonight when Ian gets home.

Let’s not forget that there are some extremely gifted actors under all those costumes who put a lot of work into looking that good just so that we can enjoy the characters.
Thank you guys and gals!!
Keep it up.

Finally!!

If you didn’t guess by my movie marathon last weekend, I am an X-Men fan.
Not the comics, I’m not into comics, but definitely the movies.
And I’ve always loved TV shows with the same kind of theme like Heroes and Alphas.

Anyway, I know about the characters and there has been one character that fans have been dying to see on the big screen and he did actually make it into X-Men Origins.
For that movie Taylor kitsch was cast to play Remy LeBeau, AKA Gambit. He did a good job too although he was seriously under used!

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has confirmed that Gambit has been cast again for another movie.

Channing Tatum!!

Gambit 2

Gambit 1

She stated  “He’s a rogue, he’s a rascal, just like Remy Lebeau and he can handle the action, we all know that.”
She goes on to say how Tatum “has a good heart”. “I know him personally I did a movie with him. I think he’ll be great for Gambit.”

She did not however, confirm which film he’ll be in.
It could be 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the planned third ‘Wolverine’ movie or even a spin off of his own!!

I’m plumping for the next X-Men movie in 2016 with the hope that if his character does well he could land his own spin off movie!!
Gambit could have an amazing movie career of his own. He’s a fantastic character to play with.

Can’t wait!!

DECISION MADE

OK, I actually managed a bit of a lay in today.
Now I’ve sat at the computer listening to some quite stirring movie music and making a shopping list for the next few days of food it’s about time I actually got dressed and did the shop.
The house just needs a quick straighten up and then the afternoon is all mine.
Including the bottle of wine I’ve just added to the shopping list!

I have decided that today is going to be an X-Men marathon day in preparation for the new film on the 22nd May.
I may even include the Wolverine movies.
A bit of Hugh Jackman never goes amiss!
