It’s back to work today!!
It took me 12 days to test Covid negative.
The first week was really rough and the second week just felt like a cold.
It has left me with an irritation on my chest which makes me cough, particularly after some exersion, and I still feel like I have my head in a bucket of water, but the good news is that my ears have started ‘popping’, so hopefully that is beginning to clear up too.
It has also left me getting tired quite quickly. I may be back to work today but I think it will be some time before I’m back to 100%.

Anyway, the reason for the blog this morning.
I am enjoying my morning cup of milky coffee and I remembered that the Oscars was last night, so I have been checking out the results and the red carpet looks.
Turns out there was some real drama on stage last night when Will Smith took offence to a Chris Rock joke and he stormed on stage and slapped him!

Then he won an Oscar!

Going through the list of winners, I actually pretty happy.
It may not have won Best Picture or any of the big Acting awards but Dune came out a clear winner last night with 6 Oscars to it’s name!
The film was visually beautiful and this was awarded with Oscars for Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Production Design.
It also won for Best Editing and Best Sound and one of my favourite movie music composers, Hans Zimmer won for Best Score.

But as wonderful as that is, these Oscars will always be remembered as the one where Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock live on TV.
It remains to be seen what damage he’s done to his career and reputation.

It’s been nearly two weeks since my last blog.
That can only mean one thing, the weather has been great and I’ve been in the garden!!

Anyway, what’s been going on and what’s been getting my attention?

We had a lovely day yesterday.
Me and Ian went out for breakfast and then I went to the cinema with Murron to see Magic mike.
We took all three of the kids out for dinner last night before going to see Terminator Genisys.
I only have another 10 shifts between now and 29th July before I am on annual leave for just over two weeks.
Can’t wait. I think I’m ready for a good break.

Murron has successfully completed her first year at college and has been accepted into level 2.
She is currently dossing around and enjoying her summer but has me and her Dad on her back about getting a job.

Marjorie was part of a team that got her school to the finals of Rock Challenge where they came in third place.
She is finally having some surgical intervention on her foot to see if the joint can be tidied up and reduce her pain.
She goes in for that on August 24th.

Dharma has been doing exceptionally well at school. She needs a bit of help with maths but we have time to work on that.
Her tummy issues have settled down again. Her knee problem is getting better and better each day but she has an ongoing ingrowing toenail issue which she is being referred to the hospital for as the clinic have done all they can.

Ian is back at work on new pain killers and wears a back brace.
So far it seems to be going OK.
He’s had MRI’s on lower and upper back and is waiting for a referral to Addenbrookes, unfortunately he needs to go through the Muscular skeletal team first so he has to wait to be seen by them in August before a referral can go to Addenbrookes, adding another couple of months onto his waiting for an opinion.
He’s getting a bit frustrated now.

And me.
I’m currently on Flucloxacillin after I got a nasty bite from something in the garden last weekend that got a little infected.
The joys of gardening!
I also had a college review last week and I am now on the home run.
Just 2 more units to complete and then it’s just tieing up loose ends before I get my qualification.
Can’t wait.
Getting that time back for things like the family, the house and the garden will be lovely.

At the cinema I’ve seen ‘Minions, Magic Mike XXL and Terminator Genisys’.
Minions was fun but wasn’t quite the histerical laugh a minute I was expecting.
Magic Mike was yummy but seriously lacking in dance routines!! I did enjoy the fact that Joe Manganiello got a much bigger part in this movie and his dance routine at the gas station to make the cashier smile while he was high as a kite was hilarious.
Terminator Genisys was actually better than I expected. The sequences that were refilmed to match the earlier movies were spot on.
The young Arnold Schwarzenegger was very well done and the older Arnie was histerical, especially when he tried to smile.

It’s at this point that I have to mention Jai Courtney.
He took on the role of Kyle in Terminator Genisys and did a good job.
He’s been cropping up in some good films recently, most noteably Divergent and Insurgent.

Jai Courtney
However, it’s one of his new films that has me very interested.
He’s currently playing Captain Boomerang in next years Suicide Squad with Joel Kinnaman.

Filming is still ongoing for this one.
Recent images off the set include, obviously, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, getting to show off his tattoos!
Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Scott Eastwood who is looking incredibly like his dad!!

Suicide Squad 7   Suicide Squad 6

I am so hoping I won’t be disappointed by this film.
If it’s a hit, it could mean big things for Joel!!

Anyway, that’s it for now.
Need to get my next unit of college work organised.
It’s going to take a little more time to get this one done as I need to do some work with the playleaders at work.
I might need to go in on a few days off to be able to get it completed.
We’ll see.

I am giving a warning, not an apology.
I am totally unapologetic about the fact that the next year will see my blog filling up with images and information about Suicide Squad!

It’s not due for release until August 5th 2016 but we are already being drip fed official images and on set images.
There’s a lot of expectation for this film from DC fans.
I’m just hoping it can hold it’s own against the Marvel Monster.

Yesterday we were introduced to the first official look at the squad.

We’ve had an official look at Will Smith as Deadshot.
Suicide Squad Deadshot
Yes, that is Will Smith!
And we have had an image of Jared Leto as the Joker.

But the official image I am waiting for is Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg!!
For now I will just have to make do with on set snaps.
Judging by what I’ve seen so far, I am already in love with Rick Flagg.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…. I don’t read comics!
I never have.
I do however, love the films that have been inspired by them.
It’s not until I start finding out about the films that I know about the characters so I really don’t know anything about Rick Flagg…. yet.
What kind of character is he?
Is he a likeable character?
Is he an unsavoury character?
Is he tough?
Does he have a soft side?
Will I love him or hate him?

Looks like I’m going to be spending the next year finding out!
