HOUSE GUESTS!!

I had two new house guests arrive today!!!

Hux and Kylo

Lifesize Kylo and Hux. I feel like a midget!!
I also feel like I’m being judged everytime I walk into my living room.

Hux and Kylo 2

I mean, just look at that sneer on Hux’s face!
The pair of them watch you as you walk across the room.
It’s quite unnerving.

I don’t care. They are adding to our rapidly expanding collection.
We had intended to collect general film memorabilia but the living room and dining room have been taken over with Star Wars memorabilia at the moment.

WHO CARES!!!

CONFIDENCE BOOST

So, I got the result for my second to last essay today and I got an A-!
I am so happy with this result.
I must admit I was feeling a bit dubious about this one but I needn’t have worried.

I now have to get through this last essay of the year, so the plan of action is as follows…..

I have a day off tomorrow which I’m going to enjoy.
I am going to relax and play on the computer and maybe treat myself a little with nibbles.
Thursday is a long day at work and then I have some annual leave, but even though I have annual leave, I still have to attend my placements for this Uni course on Tuesdays.
It’s a pain, but if I don’t attend them I just have to make the hours up in my own spare time and my spare time is a premium at the moment.

So! The first few days will be spent trying to crack this last essay.
If I am successful, I can let the Xmas Nazi loose!

It’s going to be a good few weeks.
Final essay finished.
Tattoo number three and the biggest one yet on the 29th.
Xmas decs up and shopping done.
Then I can truly look forward to……….

You guessed it…….

The Last Jedi!!!!

Look at that countdown.
At this time in 22 days, I will getting ready to watch Force Awakens before settling into a midnight showing of The Last Jedi.

Can you tell I’m a little bit excited?

28………

In just 28 days I will probably be hyperventilating for the entire day.
In 28 days I will be arriving at our local cinema for a 21:00 showing of The Force Awakens that will be followed by a midnight showing of The Last Jedi!!

To say I’m a tad excited is an understatement.
I apologise for the amount of gushing that will probably ensue over the next few weeks as all the publicity really kicks in.

I saw this little cartoon the other day and I think it sums me up a treat at the moment!

Star Wars Stress

The TV spots have already started in the US and I think that this one is currently my favourite!!
Poe Dameron has the best line in the movie so far.

As long as he doesn’t blow up my General, he can blow up what he wants!!

So, the UK at least, are now officially less than one month away from release.
I want to assure all my American counterparts that, apart from telling you what I thought of the film, I will not post any spoilers.

This will be a spoiler free zone!!

WHAT TO DO TODAY….

Well, what to do this afternoon really as I’ve already wasted the morning on Tumblr and Youtube.

Anyway, I’m torn between carrying on with my computer fun and starting my next essay.
I think I’m going to go for a bit of both.

Either way, it will all involve some alcohol.

So let’s make a start with……

OMG!!!! LOOK AT THAT COUNTDOWN. ONLY 36 DAYS TO GO.

It’s been a long and arduous wait, but the Last Jedi is virtually upon us.
We can only hope that the press tour will start very soon, so expect my blog to be filled with interview clips and ‘hopefully’ film clips.
I am really hoping we see more of Adam this time around.
I know that two years ago the need to keep the mystery of Kylo Ren coupled with Adam Driver ‘hating’ public appearances, meant that we saw very little of him during the press tour.
The appearances that he did make were like gold dust for his fans.
He appears to have loosened up a little in the last two years which bodes really well.

Anyway, on completely the other end of the movie scale, I found the International Trailer for Peter Rabbit this morning.

You may or may not have noticed, that next to Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson is one of my favourite actors. The fact that they are both in Star Wars together makes me extremely excited!!

This trailer shows a lot more of Domhnall’s character ‘Mr McGregor’

Domhnall is a wonderfully expressive actor.
He loves doing comedy and rom-coms and did an exceptional job recently as AA Milne in Goodbye Christopher Robin.

It still amazes me that that this man….

was subsequently cast to play this man….. the most prolific killer in the history of Star Wars.

I really wonder sometimes, what went through the casting directors head, to link such a cold character to Domhnall Gleeson, but I will forever love them for it!!

My biggest fear for the Last Jedi is that my General will not see it to Episode 9.
Seriously, if they kill Hux, I will be doing my best to sob quietly through the rest of the film.

Anyway, a decision has now been made.
I think I have messed around enough on the computer today. Time to do a little studying and then I’m off to pamper myself with a hair cut.
I keep my hair extremely short.
It’s just so liberating not to have to worry about anything except some wax in the mornings. I always know when it’s time for a cut. Usually between 4 and 6 weeks when the curls start to fight back.
Today is that day.

I DID A THING

So, I’ve done something I haven’t done in years.

I bought a magazine!!

Not that big a deal really until you see the front cover and understand WHY I bought this magazine.

GQ cover

The December issue of GQ magazine has a wonderful interview with Adam Driver and it’s chocked full of some wonderful images.

I think that this smouldering little beauty is my favourite!!

1745

Anyway, the interview is interesting. It does cover a lot of what I already know about Adam and how he got to where he is today but it also gives some insight into his life now that Star Wars has made him very recognisable.

How Carrie Fisher told him “Just pretend you’re down to earth. People love that shit.”

How Rian Johnson “had heard about Adam’s intensity before I worked with him, but he’s also really fun and funny.” and then goes on to reveal some of his antics between takes on set.

There’s a moment during the interview that he seemingly let’s slip quite a major plot point in the new movie when he talks about “the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is”
But it goes on to say “in passionately holding forth, Driver is simply unaware he’s revealed anything, much less a major spoiler. In any case, he doesn’t skip a beat…..”

Was Adam just trying to put into words how he sees the whole saga or did he just reveal Rey as Kylo’s sister!!
We’ll just have to wait until December to find out.

I still snicker when I think that Adam is ‘technically’ a Disney Prince!!
But I digress…….

I think my favourite part of the interview comes when he’s describing his reaction to the premier of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
As an Adam fan, I know how much he hates publicity.
He struggles with anxiety and he’s incredibly uncomfortable singing his own praises and red carpets are an absolute nightmare for him.
When it comes to premieres and screenings of his films, he will do the red carpet bit, say ‘hi’ to the fans and disappear into the cinema. He will then head out the back door and return when the credits roll. He absolutely hates to watch his own performances.
The last two years have seen him becoming more and more comfortable with this however, and I hold out much hope that he will be seen a lot more in the marketing interviews et al, for The Last Jedi, but in this interview he recalls….

“When I watched the premier, I felt sick to my stomach. The people behind me, when the scroll started, were like ‘Oh my god. Oh my god. It’s happening.’ Immediately I thought I was going to puke. I was holding my wife’s hand, and she’s like, ‘You’re really cold. Are you OK?’ Because I just knew what was coming – I kill Harrison – and I didn’t know how this audience of 2,000 people was going to respond to it, you know?”

Poor baby thought he was going to be lynched!!

Anyway, time to put the magazine away and get some work done.
We’ve got one of our yearly inspections on the house we rent on Monday, so I am going into major cleaning mode for a couple of days.

Oh the joy.

57 DAYS TO GO!

Only 57 days to go until The Last Jedi hits the big screen.

All the new merchandise is now hitting the shops ready for Xmas and new artwork and tidbits of information weasel their way onto the internet almost on a daily basis.

Musings and theories by other fans continue to cause the occasional ruckus but Disney have done their usual incredible job of keeping the important stuff under wraps. Drip feeding the fandom with the tiniest reveals and keeping them salivating for more.

One of my favourite theories at the moment is to do with Kylo destroying the academy and killing all the students.
After The Force Awakens, everyone was quick to hate on Kylo. His reputation as ‘The Jedi Killer’ was set in stone.

However….

In a new theory, is that reputation really set in stone?
We now know, from the new trailer, that Luke is scared of Rey’s power and stated that he’d seen it only once before. It didn’t scare him enough back then and it does now.

What if Kylo, back at the academy, lost control of his immense power and inadvertantly destroys the academy, killing all the students?
What would that do to him mentally?
Did he run, thinking his family would never accept him for what he’s done?
Did Snoke find him and manipulate him?
It could explain his struggle with the light if he’s not totally convinced by the dark.
Does Kylo struggle with forgiving himself and believe he only deserves the dark?
It would also explain why he was so quick to pick up on Rey’s ability and his offer of help.

If this is the case, it will make giving Kylo a redemption much easier to swallow for all the fans who cannot forgive him for killing Han Solo and his treatment of Rey in Force Awakens.

It’s going to take a lot for Rey to even come close to trusting Kylo again but I have no doubt that she will.
I still believe they will be joining forces (so to speak) but I do not think it will be romantically. I believe that they will need each other to bring their powers under control and I believe that we could be seeing our first ‘grey’ jedi.

Anyway…..

I found some new artwork today.
Lightside and darkside standups for cinema foyers.

There is some amazing artwork emerging for the Last Jedi and these are no exception!!
But look closely.
What suddenly strikes you?

Luke is in both of them!! Light and Dark.

Dark side

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!!

And then you realise that the dark side image of Luke is also used in the glorious official poster for the film.

I really have no clue what twists and turns Rian Johnson has planned for us in this movie.
It’s going to be great!!

MY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS

If you are one of these strange people who don’t like watching trailers before a movie is released, please do not go any further.
You have been warned.

OK, it’s been a few days now since the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit the internet.
Can I just say ‘OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!’

It had the desired effect I was expecting. Excitement, confusion, anticipation, surprise.
I think I was actually holding my breath through the entire first watch.

I think it’s done it’s job very well.
It has given us a good feel for how the movie will play out but I think there are one or two red herrings in there to throw us off the scent.

On the internet, it always amuses me to what lengths people will argue about what they believe will happen. They have a viewpoint, they’ve read the trailer one way and if anyone argues otherwise, all hell breaks loose! Most of the time it’s all in good humour.

‘Most of the time’!

Anyway, after scrutinising the trailer myself over the last few days, I thought I’d give you my perspective.

Remember, these are my thoughts and viewpoints…. I could be completely wrong!!
This is the fun part.
Trying to figure it all out and then being completely dumbfounded when you realise you’d got it all wrong and they pull something completely different out of the bag.

The opening few seconds….

Yes!! My baby looking all lonely, contemplative and angsty.
I love that Kylo is now out of the robes and into a more form fitting uniform.
We actually get to ‘see’ Adam in this movie. He’s big and he’s beautiful.
What is he overseeing? Preparation for a battle?

Rey is taking to her lightsabre. She’s looking determined.
Daisy is looking really good. Her exercise regime has definately paid off.

So, Luke is afraid of Rey’s powers because they remind him of Kylo’s. I really hope this film explores what actually happened at Luke’s academy and how Kylo became known as ‘The Jedi Killer’. Why is Luke so scared?

Can I just say again….. Adam is looking incredible in this film!!
At least we get to actually see his face through most of this one.
If there’s one thing Adam can do very well it’s angst and anger.
Listen to how calm he is when delivering the line ‘Let go of the past…. kill it, if you have to’.
And yes!! He’s still having tantrums.
Ooooh chills.

This, I believe, is a red herring. We are meant to believe that Kylo kills Leia but there is just no way this is going to happen. Look at the angst on his face as his finger hovers over that button!
Besides, it would be sloppy writing on Rian’s part to have Kylo kill both parents and we know that Leia (Carrie) is going to be given a better send off than that!!
Kylo is going to be more conflicted in The Last Jedi than he was in Force Awakens.
I am going to love every minute of it!!

PORGS!!!
I still don’t know what to make of them.
My kids love them and they haven’t even seen the movie yet.
I suspect there’s a lot more to them than we have been lead to believe. I have no doubt they are going to be some of the comic relief of this movie, but I also believe they are not to be underestimated.

Poe and Finn throw themselves into the hero spots of the film and I can’t wait to see that fight between Finn and Phasma.

I think, in the context of the trailer, this little line is aimed directly at the audience!!
I think Luke is right. I don’t think anyone has a clue how this is going to play out. Regardless of all the hype and speculation, I think there are going to be plenty of twists and turns and shocks along the way.
Also… the crystaline foxes… what significance do they have? They are obviously being protected by the resistance as the planet is attacked. Are they indiginous? Are they intelligent? Have they been helping the resistance?

OK, this is a scene I’ve watched over and over.
I believe this is going to be a pivotal moment. Not for Rey, but for Kylo!!

If you look closely at the scene earlier in the trailer where Kylo is picking up his sabre, it is obviously taking place in the same room Rey is being tortured by Snoke. You see the red guards in the back of both images. When Snoke says the words ‘fullfill your destiny’, I believe they are being spoken to Kylo.
Has he just been told to kill Rey, to complete his training, to become the most powerful sith that ever lived?
Is this the moment Kylo decides on a different path?

This is the moment that is causing more discourse on the internet than any other.
Here’s my take on it and please remember that this is just a theory. I’m not insisting I’m right and I’m probably completely wrong.

I believe this is the biggest red herring in the entire trailer.
I have no doubt that Kylo and Rey will be joining forces (excuse the pun) in some form during this movie but I don’t think it is in this moment. In fact I think they are two completely different scenes that have been cleverly cut together.

I believe Rey is actually talking to Luke at the beginning of the movie when she says ‘I need someone to show me my place in all this’.

As to who Kylo is holding his hand out to?
It could still very well be Rey but I believe it could also be Leia.

There!
I’ve done it. That’s what I got out of this trailer.
Now I just have to wait another two months to find out.

I already have my tickets for a double bill starting on 13th Dec at 21:00 with The Force Awakens and this leads into a midnight showing of The Last Jedi. I will be amongst the first to see it. I can’t wait!!

So I have just wasted a couple of hours playing with this and have rattled off around a thousand words.
I now have to get back to an essay that I still need to write and reference 1500 more words for.
Bet it doesn’t get finished today!!
