It’s been a while since I did a Dish of the Week.
Now seems a good time as I have an unusually free afternoon waiting for the dinner to cook and I feel the need to blog.

This Dish of the Week is being shared as I couldn’t make up my mind and after the news I got on Thursday, this Dish of the Week seemed appropriate.

OK, so Netflix have only gone and cancelled one of the most original and diverse shows on TV and they announced it on the first day of Pride month.

Smooth move.

You will have seen me blog a few times in recent months about a show called Sense8.
What an amazing show.
Absolutely impossible to explain to anyone, but amazing. The last season ended on a cliffhanger, and now they’ve cancelled it.

I could cry.

I will never know if they save Wolfgang and he will never get to meet Kala in Paris.

We will never get to see Nomi (a trans woman) marry Amanita, her black lesbian lover!

Nomi 1

How’s that for groundbreaking diversity.

We will never see Lito become a big hollywood star and be accepted and be able to live a normal life with his boyfriend Hernando.

We will never know if Will and Riley defeat Whispers.

Will 1

We will never see Capheus get elected and make a difference.

We will never see Sun cleared and get her revenge on her Brother and live a life with her detective Mun.

So many unanswered questions.
My heart breaks.
I’ve had fantastic shows cancelled abruptly on me in the past but this one is really hitting hard!!

I just cannot understand it.
It’s a popular show. You only have to google it to find that out.
The Twitter boards have gone ballistic since the cancellation news and an online petition to save the show has already reached nearly 500,000 signatures.
The diversity alone is something to love and cherish and nurture and Netflix has just pissed all over it.

It reminds me of the ‘Nuts’ campaign when Jericho got cancelled!!
We can only hope that it has the same effect and we get at least one more season to give us closure. We’ve invested time in all of these characters and we’ve fallen in love with them. We want to know what happens to them. Especially Wolfgang who was last seen strapped to a table being tortured for information!!!

Max 1

Anyway, this brings me nicely to this Dish of the Week post.
Two of my favourite characters from this series are Wolfgang and Lito played by Max Riemelt and Miguel Silvestre.

Max Riemelt, who plays Wolfgang, was born in 1984 in Berlin, Germany and he has that subtle German accent that is very reminicent of Hardy Kruger!! He’s lovely.

Miguel Silvestre, who plays Lito Rodrigues, was born in 1982 in Valencia, Spain and he has a beautiful smile and an incredible bod!

The fact he was one of the gay leads in Sense8 and made an amazingly sexy couple with his partner Hernando just endeared him to me from the moment I saw him.

I’ll be honest, I’ve seen nothing else with either of them in it.
It is something I aim to rectify. So watch this space, I may gush a little more about one or even both of them.

Why wouldn’t I? They are both gorgeous!!

So up until 5 minutes ago, today has been a fairly relaxing day.
A quick shop at Tesco.
Made a scrummy cauliflower cheese for me and number one daughter.
Cleaned the bathroom and toilet ready for inspection on Friday.
Ate said cauliflower cheese with number one daughter.
Binge watched to the end of season 2 of Sense8 and……

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better.

How long must I wait now to find out what happens to Wolfgang?
I am literally hyperventilating.

And now I have to do some work on my Essay plan before Uni tomorrow.

It won’t be easy.
But at least I have some beautiful memories of Lito and Hernando to keep me going until season 3.

Will Netflix even make a season 3?
Will I really have to wait a year to find out what happens to Wolfgang?
This isn’t fair.

Right, where do I start?
How do I explain what I’ve just watched?
Can I explain it?
Thank god for IMDB and Wikipedia where a lot of this information is pieced together from.

A few months ago I attempted to watch a series called Sense8 on Netflix.
I obviously wasn’t in the right frame of mind the first time around and I gave up after a couple of episodes.

You see, you REALLY need to be in the right frame of mind to watch this mind f##k of a programme.

How do I know this?
I tried it again and I’ve just binge watched the whole of the first season and the Xmas special.

IMDB put it simply….
A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world’s order.

That’s it in a nutshell but there’s so much more to it.
Once you wrap your head around the concept it’s AMAZING!!
So clever.

8 people from around the world, all born at the same time. They all experience a vision of the violent death of a woman called Angelica and that is when they develop a mental and emotional connection. They become ‘sensates’. They learn that they can sense and communicate with each other and share their knowledge and skills. They can literally step into each other’s lives without ‘physically’ doing it.

This is so hard to explain!!!

They are helped along by another ‘sensate’ called Jonas, who has a link to Angelica. He is trying to protect them from another ‘sensate’ called ‘Whispers’ who is hunting them down by tapping into their psychic link.

The scenes where they ‘connect’ are particularly clever and ‘WOWZERS’ does it make the sex scenes incredibly hot.

Orgy anyone?

The diversity of the cast is awesome.

One from Iceland – Riley Blue
An Icelandic DJ living in London who is trying to escape a troubled past.

One from Germany – Wolfgang Bogdanow
A Berlin locksmith and safe-cracker who has unresolved issues with his late father and participates in organised crime.

One from Mexico – Lito Rodriguez
A closeted actor of Basque background living in Mexico City with his boyfriend Hernando.

One from Korea – Sun Bak
Daughter of a powerful Seoul businessman and a burgeoning star in the underground kickboxing world.

Two from America – Nomi Marks and Will Gorski
Nomi is a trans woman hacktivist and blogger living in San Francisco with her girlfriend Amanita. She was born Michael but changed her name to Nomi, which stands for “Know Me”
Will is a chicago police officer haunted by an unsolved murder from his childhood.

One from India – Kala Dandekar
A university educated pharmacist and devout Hindu in Mumbai who is engaged to marry a man she does not love.

One from Africa – Capheus “Van Damme” Onyango
A Matatu driver in Nairobi and a passionate fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme who is trying to earn money to buy AIDS medicine for his mother.

Over the course of the first series I have fallen in love with all of these characters.
They all have very different and troubled lives.
The only two who have ‘physically’ met are Riley and Will and I think these two are set to really go through the wringer in series 2.

However, when it comes to absolute favourites I will have to plump for Lito and his boyfriend Hernando. It simply doesn’t get any cuter or any hotter!!
They have both got bods to die for and watching them overcome Lito’s forced ‘outing’ during the season simply won my heart.
And just so you know… Lito’s Mum is a queen!!

Lito and Hernando would have to be hotly followed by the tragic Kala and Wolfgang!!
Kala is so unsure about what she’s doing but firmly believes it’s the right thing to do.
The man she is marrying is successful and handsome and she would have a good life, but she doesn’t love him.
Then she connects with Wolfgang and although they never physically meet, there is an overpowering feeling of love that develops between them but Wolfgang knows his dangerous life is not what she needs and he gives her up!!
This realtionship had better go somewhere in series 2 or I may just burst!!

Don’t let the photos fool you. Wolfgang and Kala have not ‘physically’ met yet!!
Like I’ve been trying to say, this show is a real mind f##k and if you give it a go, I suggest you do it totally sober and concentrate!!

Roll on May when I can binge watch series 2!!
