HERE WE GO!!

So, the weekend of 15th, 16th and 17th of July sees this years Star Wars Celebration in London!
Just an hour down the road and I CAN’T GO!!!

I’m working the Saturday anyway but current finances also mean it’s a no go.
Right now, I have to concentrate on getting my ass to my Brother’s wedding in Tuscany next year.

It’s going to be a big weekend.
I found out today that we will be getting a new 3 minute trailer for Rogue One due out in December.

If it doesn’t show more of this guy I may just cry!!

The information that comes out of this weekend is going to be pounced on by fans around the world and they are expecting a lot!!

Hopefully we will at least get an official title for Episode VIII and with most of the principle photography done, we could well have a teaser.

New images and character information will abound for both Rogue One and Ep VIII…. hopefully.

If the original Rogue One trailer is anything to go by, there could be an interesting influx of fanfiction and related artwork too.

It’s going to be a long week waiting for it all!

STAR WARS MUSINGS #8

I think I can safely say that I am a Star Wars fan.
Not that that is much of a surprise to ‘anyone’ who knows me.

As much as I hate having to wait so long for certain films to arrive, I also love the build up that comes with it.

I love all the internet hype and I absolutely love reading the theories that fans come up with.

However, I have noticed a change in my particular area of interest.
There seems to have been a definate swing to the dark side.

As a kid/teenager my interest was ALWAYS Han Solo.
Forget Luke Skywalker, I went with the scoundrel.

Han Solo 4

Growing up my loyalty was with the rebels and the Jedi’s.
Then when the prequels came along, I slowly began to lose myself to the dark side.
Hayden Christensen couldn’t act his way out of a paper bag (IMO…sorry) but boy did he look good as Anakin Skywalker!!!

I wasn’t exactly disappointed with the prequels, well actually maybe I was.
They simply didn’t feel like Star Wars.
They were bloated and arrogant and relied way to heavily on CGI specials effects.
They are OK as films but I can’t go back to them time and time again like I can with New Hope, Empire and Jedi.

Then we had a bit of a dry period before Disney took over.
Along came the first part in a new trilogy that promised so much.
And it delivered!!!

I completely lost myself to the dark side with this bad boy!! Kylo Ren.

and a smattering of this bad boy…. General Hux, who became the most prolific killer in Star Wars history when he ordered the firing of Starkiller Base and took out 5 planets in the Hosnian System!!

The Force Awakens. Set exactly 30 years after Return of the Jedi brought every fan to their knees!!
It was amazing.
They got it sooooo right. The whole feel was definately Star Wars. It felt like it ran smoothly from Return of the Jedi. They used practical special effects and enhanced them with CGI. It was sleek and beautiful.
Original fans were gobsmacked but ultimately pissed off when their ultimate hero from the original trilogy, Han Solo, was killed off by Kylo….. his own son!!

As we eagerly await the next episode in the story I have been gently ‘pushed’ into reading some Star Wars fanfiction.
However, that push landed me right in the middle of the Kylux trash compactor!!

My two favourite bad boys being very BAAAD BOYS!!!!

Anyway!! Not only are Disney delivering the new trilogy episode by episode every two years, they are giving us some stand alone movies.
The first of which is Rogue One due out this Xmas.
A Star Wars film every year for the foreseable future!!!

Rogue One is set directly before A New Hope and tells the story of the team that steals the plans for the first Death.
Entertainment Weekly released lots of new images and information this week.
They confirmed that Darth Vader does indeed appear in this movie, with James Earl Jones reprising his role as the commanding voice of Vader.

They also released more images of Director Krennic. The character that caught my eye in the first trailer played by Ben Mendelsohn.

This smooth looking dude apparantly doesn’t get on particularly well with Darth Vader!!
I simply can’t wait to find out more about him.

They also released some stunning images of Stormtroopers and Deathtroopers.

This film is looking more and more incredible by the day.
With the Star Wars Celebration event next month I’m desperately hoping they release a new trailer.
I am definately losing myself to the dark side and I really don’t care!!

STAR WARS MUSINGS #7

I really must stop torturing myself.

I have 2 painfully slow counters on my blog that keep reminding me we still have 18 months until Ep VIII and 6 months until Rogue One.

I’m looking forward to both for different reasons.

Rogue one just looks like it’s going to be stunning.

Just look at that shot of the Star Destroyer as that shadow moves across the Death Star.

Rogue One 1

That scene with the AT-AT’s on the beach!! OMG!!

Rogue One 4

This trailer throws up so many questions that I want answered NOW!!
Is the guy in white a Grand Admiral? And is he going to be seriously badass?

Rogue One 2

Who is in that Bacta tank? He’s certainly important enough to be protected by imperial guards seen flanking the tank and who is kneeling before the Bacta tank?

Rogue One 3

Who is Jyn Erso and where does she come from?
Is Jyn Erso her real name?
Look at the insignia on her arm in that last shot…. It’s Imperial!

Rogue One 5

And who is this guy?

Rogue One 6

We know that none of these characters appear in IV, V or VI so do they all die in this film?!

Anyway, onto Episode VIII

Where do I start?
So many questions left to answer.
Who is Rey?
Who are Rey’s parents and how/why did she get left behind on Jakku?
Who is Snoke?
Kylo did not get the release he was looking for after killing Han, does he regret his actions?
Will Kylo start a long hard faught for redemption?
Will Kylo still wear a mask or will he show off his new battle scar?
Will Leia ever get to confront her son again?

Leia Kylo

Who are the Knights of Ren?

Knights of Ren

Will Hux become something more? He certainly has balls. After all, he’s certainly not afraid of Kylo Ren and with just one shot in EpVII he became the most prolific killer in Star Wars history when he took out the Hosnian System!! Could he have his eye on the Throne?…..I BLOODY HOPE SO!!!

Emperor Hux 2

Is Luke teaching Rey? Some recent reports from filming suggests that there may be trouble brewing on Ach-to after a visit from Kylo!
How extensive is the First Order? Starkiller Base exploded with a good chunk of personel on board. What kind of an impact does that have?
Come to think of it…did Lieutenant Mitaka make it off the planet? Little nervous cutie that he is.

In my mind I have a scenario I would love to see.
Kylo redeemed (although he has to go through hell to get it). If he ever gets to hug his Mum as she forgives him I think I will just melt into a puddle and be done with life!
Hux on the throne but peace in the Galaxy as the rise of the Grey Jedi brings balance to EVERYTHING!
Kylo and Rey are the start of the Grey Jedi. They need each other to bring that balance to everything.

It’s all pie in the sky.
It’s never going to happen that way but it’s so exciting thinking about it.

I love reading all the theories people are having.
All the reports from the sets with snatched photos giving hints but nothing rock solid.
At this rate I’m going to give myself a stroke just thinking about it all which will be no good as I actually want to make it to Ep VIII!!!

HAPPY DAYS

I had such a good laugh last night.
I can’t remember the last time I had a good, uncontrollable laughing session like that.
I was sitting in the living room with all three of my girls.
Ian had given up and gone to bed and we were left just generally having a chat and the conversation turned into a ‘let’s see how we can make someone giggle’ session.
It got a little bit naughty at times and certain things had to be explained to the youngest which just added to the hilarity but looking back on it, I’m glad I’m actually able to talk to my girls so openly!
I hate to think what it sounded like from upstairs. Ian must have thought we were going crazy!

Anyway, I’m now sat here contemplating cutting the grass in the back garden but there is a rather large and nasty looking grey raincloud working it’s way overhead so I’m holding off to see what it does.
Looks like a 50/50 chance of rain.

I’ve been sat here with my cup of milky coffee this morning, doing the usual scan of FB and Tumblr and as I expected, it’s gone a little crazy over a certain teaser trailer that was released yesterday.
We finally got to see an officially released teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story due out this Xmas.
A little snack to tide us over until Episode VIII during Xmas 2017.
Well, I say “a little snack” but this looks like a full three course meal with an extra pudding for luck!

It looks absolutely amazing and gives me great hope that everything ‘Star Wars’ due over the next few years will all be of the same high standard as Force Awakens and we will not be dealing with the mindnumbing quagmires that Eps 1, 2 and 3 were.
Don’t get me wrong, 1, 2 and 3 were OK. I just found them to be very pretentious, quite dull in places and trying WAY to hard when it came to the CGI special effects. The look and feel ¬†didn’t flow too well into 4, 5 and 6, whereas Force Awakens flowed naturally, looked stunning and was more in keeping with 4, 5 and 6.

Anyway, back on to today.
Looks like I may have been lucky (if you can call it lucky). The sky appears to be clearing and I don’t think there’s been any rain so I might just have to get off my backside and cut the grass afterall.

I’m not complaining, I’ve got to do something to take my mind off of my cinema trip tonight.
I’m going to see ‘Midnight Special’ with Adam Driver, Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton and Kirsten Dunst.
It’s the first time I’ve seen Adam on the big screen since Force Awakens and I’m really looking forward to it. The film looks pretty good.

So there we are. My day in a nutshell.
No doubt I will pop a quick reveiw of Midnight Special on here later tonight, it would be rude not to!

Yep, I’m definately seeing some blue sky peeking through, better take my chance with the grass while I still can.
