BOND, WHO’S BOND?

With ‘No Time to Die’ now finally out in the world, the question has gone back to just WHO will the next James Bond be?

The possibility of the next Bond being a woman inevitably raises it’s ugly head.
It’s never going to happen and I for one, don’t think it should!

Barbara Broccoli, movie producer and daughter of Albert R. Broccoli who was responsible for securing backing for and kick starting the films inspired by the popular James Bond novels written by Ian Flemming, has always stated that ‘James Bond will never be female’, which is reassuring.

So!! let’s weigh in with some of my own thoughts.
First things first.
Bond has to be British!! So that immediately rules out Adam Driver.
As much as I would LOVE to see him have a crack at Bond, it’s just not Adam and that kind of fame is not what Adam is after. It’s too much. He only just survived being Kylo Ren in the Star Wars movies……… except that Kylo Ren died…. but that’s not what I mean!! The Red carpets and all the attention made him very uncomfortable. The only good thing to come out of that experience was the ability to be able to do the kinds of films he actually ‘wants’ to do and be working constantly.

Right, if we’re going for rugged hard nuts like Daniel Craig then three actors stand out of the crowd for me.
Michael Fassbender, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy.

My reasoning……..

1st, ….woof, woof and woof!
2nd, they all look stunning in a suit.
3rd, they have all got hard man roles already proven.
4th, they all appeal to both men and women.
5th, they all know how to seduce and smoulder, but they can also turn on the nasty when needed quite effectively.

Next we have a different class of actor choices in Richard Madden, Sam Heughan and Riz Ahmed.

Again. woof. woof and woof!
These three all have the potential to be more suave, more ‘Roger Moore’ than ‘Daniel Craig’ but at the same time will be able to seriously kick butt when needed.
Richard won a lot of hearts as The Bodyguard and this popularity could be harnessed for Bond.
Sam Heughan is ripe for the picking. He has proven his acting chops in the TV series Outlander but has yet to find his feet in a successful film.
Both Richard and Sam are Scottish, so they could be harking back to the days of Sean Connery.
Riz Ahmed is currently proving to be a bit of an all rounder and if given the chance, could bring something completely new to the character of Bond.

I’ve seen other names being mentioned occasionally but one name that gets surprisingly mentioned occasionally is Tom Holland!!

There has been talk about making Bond a lot younger and at just 25 years old, Tom Holland would be a great choice.
He’s adorable and already has leading man experience, however, I feel he is just a bit too young!!
James Bond is a Royal Naval Reserve Commander and you don’t make that rank at just 25 years of age.
Unless they are going to do a story that involves how James becomes 007 then I think Tom would be a very bad decision.

Anyway, after seeing ‘No Time to Die’ it remains to be seen if we’re even going to get a new Bond movie.
I’me very interested to see where it’s going to go.

AFTERNOON SORTED

Chores done.
Time to relax and recharge batteries for the next two days at work.

Treated myself to a couple of movies today.
It’s going to be a pretty tough going getting through these this afternoon.
Lots of doom and gloom.

The Revenant
Saw it at the cinema and was very impressed. My husband didn’t like it though so I can’t see him wanting to curl up on the sofa and watch it.

Revenant

Good film made even better by the fact that Domhnall Gleeson is in it!!

Revenant 2

And Macbeth.
I haven’t seen this one yet and it’s one Shakespeare play that I’ve never actually seen or read!!
Michael Fassbender is Macbeth so how I could I not give it a go!!

Macbeth

This is all leading to an update on ‘Under the Ruins of a Walled City’ that has been promised for this evening.

So not only will my heart get a pounding during the movies this afternoon, it will probably get well and truly stamped on this evening!!

Can’t wait.

FRANK

Frank is a totally BATSHIT CRAZY movie!!

Frank 1

That really does sum the film up.

IMDB states….

Jon, a young wanna-be musician, discovers he’s bitten off more than he can chew when he joins an eccentric pop band led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank.

Domhnall Gleeson plays Jon and Michael Fassbender plays Frank.

Frank 2

Michael Fassbender gives a stella performance, totally unihibited by the fact that he wears that head through 99% of the film.
The truth about Frank is quite heartbreaking!!

Domhnall is also good and delivers a very naive and heartfelt performance of a man with a dream but at the end of the day he has no real talent to back it up.

I’ve spent the last few weeks now working my way through a back catalogue of Domhnall’s work and I still can’t get over the fact that someone looked at his work and thought…
‘YEAH!! This guy would be an AMAZING Genocidal General’ when casting for Star Wars.

However, I’ve very glad they did!!
I just hope they develop his character and not kill him off in Episode VIII.

MY ADVENT CALENDAR – DAY 19

Day 19 – Michael Fassbender

Born in Germany but raised in Ireland, hence the lovely accent!
Came to my attention as the younger Magneto in the recent X-Men series of films with the next chapter out next year.
Can’t wait to see what he does with Assassins Creed also out next year.
Oh and he has a cracking smile!!

END OF THE YEAR ROUNDUP

OK, so I have a very short 4.5 hour shift to do today to make up my full hours after doing a short shift on Xmas day.
I’m back to full shifts on Mon, Wed’s (New year’s Eve) and Thurs (New year’s day)
I have a dental appointment on Tues morning and I’m going to my Brothers for drinks and nibbles on Tues afternoon.
So today is the only chance I have to do my roundup for the year.

All in all, it’s been a better year this year.
We still had all the medical issues kicking around and money is still tight but we made the decision NOT to stress about it this year.
Me and Ian pushed the budget and invested in Unlimited Cinema cards which have been an absolute joy to have.
I have been to the cinema a grand total of 48 times.
Taking the kids to the cinema is now not so stressfull because we are not worrying about the cost quite so much.

We made the decision to spend more time together as a couple.
Even if it’s just the cinema trips and the occasional breakfast out.
Sometimes, if finances allow, we even manage to take the kids for a breakfast treat.
This alone has made a big difference for us this year.

We have seen big changes in our eldest daughter Murron who started college in September.
She has the freedom of Bedford because of her bus pass, she has a boyfriend she’s been with now for almost a year and she’s absolutely loving college!
I can’t believe the change in her.
She gets herself out of bed in time to catch the bus for college, even if she’s not feeling good.
We couldn’t even do that with a cattle prod while she was at school!
She may be treating the house as a hotel but at least she’s happy!

While finances have been tight, as usual, they have actually been better controlled this year.
So much so that me and Ian actually bought each other Xmas presents this year for the first time since having the kids.

I have only had 9 Dish of the Week’s this year.
Technically only 7 because Joel Kinnaman had 2 of those entries, Karl Urban had 1 and they both battled it out on a joint entry!

The others who made it to the list were..
Sam Haughan

Tom Hiddleston

Number 04

Michael Fassbender

Fassbender 01

Lee Pace

Pushing Daisies

and Chris Pratt

My blogging started off really well in January as it usually does and then by summer it started to slow down until we reached december which has had a grand total of just 6 posts, including this one!
I really must try to do at least one a day next year.

Next year is going to be full of landmark celebrations.

Dharma will be 13
Marjorie will be 16
Murron will be 18
Ian will be 50
and we will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary in August with a family holiday to York.

There are lots of other things I could have blogged about this year but for various reasons, I can’t.
Needless to say, we plan to keep next year under control like this year.
We will continue with our Unlimited Cinema membership.
We will continue to enjoy our occasional breakfasts out, including the kids.

My priorities for the year are….. and strictly in this order….
1. My family’s health and happiness and my family in general.
2. My own health and happiness.
3. Work.

I may be doing some soul searching over the next year.
If certain things don’t change I may take a drastic decision before the end of 2015, we’ll see.
Keep checking into my blog to find out.

I hope everyone has a fabulous new year!

Finally, for anyone interested, I started keeping a simple log of films that I’ve watched this year.
I’m surprised I kept it going all year!
The list topped 338 (finalised at 340) films last night and there is the potential for a couple more before the year is over.

155 DAYS, 157 FILMS

It’s been a good day today, despite the fact I had to have a small filling this morning!

I managed a little bit of a lay in, relaxed with a cuppa and a coffee for a bit and then went to the dentist.
When I got back I planted 22 Hollyhocks in the rain!!
I’m working the next two days and didn’t want them left in their pots.

After that, me and Ian went to see Maleficent.
I wasn’t as blown away with it as I though I would be.
Don’t get me wrong, it was good but it just lacked something that made it a little bit disappointing.
Angelina singing, ‘I know you I walked with you once upon a dream’ still gives me goosebumps though. Creepy!

Then it was home for some dinner while we watched X-Men: First Class and then we thought, what the hell and went to see X-Men: Days of Future Past again!!
Absolutely loving being able to go to the cinema at the drop of a hat these days.

Definitely getting a bit of a Michael Fassbender fix today.
I’m seriously thinking about curling up in bed an watching ‘Shame’ On Demand.
Michael Fassbender as a sex addict…. sounds intriguing.

Anyway, we are 155 days into the year and I’ve just totalled up the films I’ve watched.
In all formats, TV, DVD, Bluray, Cinema, Netflix, I’ve seen a grand total of 157!
Make that 158 if I watch ‘Shame’

There are loads of good films coming out over the summer.
Our Unlimited Cards are going to come in really handy.

Oh Yes!!!….. only 4 more days until the Robocop Bluray!!

I’M SEEING A PATTERN

Obsession number one = Karl Urban after seeing Dredd

MASK1

Obsession number two = Joel Kinnaman after seeing Robocop

MASK2

Not an obsession, but definitely a crush = Michael Fassbender after seeing X-Men

MASK3

You know what? I’ve just realised why Michael isn’t an obsession….
I can still see his eyes!!

DISH OF THE WEEK # 57 – MICHAEL FASSBENDER

Oh dear!!
It looks like I’m developing a bit of a crush on Michael Fassbender!

I’ve only seen him in his 2 X-Men movies, Prometheus and Eden Lake but that has been enough to peek my attention.
After seeing him goof around with Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy promoting X-Men Days of Future Past, I have really warmed to him.
That accent and that shark of a smile are incredible!!

It only seems right that he officially becomes my Dish of the Week number 57.

Fassbender 02

Killer smile

Fassbender 01

There is no denying I have a soft spot for the younger Magneto.

Fassbender 03

Prometheus was intriguing but I’m not sure about the blonde.

Fassbender 06

Eden Lake started off beautifully…..

Fassbender 04

But ended rather badly!!

Fassbender 05

These three are a real hoot together.

Fassbender 07

I am holding my breath for the release of Assassins Creed that seem to have been in pre production for…. forever!!
See my posts from Jan 2013 and Feb 2014

Michael Fassbender is still the only name listed in the cast.
I really hope this film gets off the ground.
I can’t imagine a better story to bring to the big screen.
If it’s done right it could be amazing.

Fassbender 08

ASSASSIN’S CREED, GETTING THERE SLOWLY!

Back on 31st January 2013 I posted my Dish of the Week number 40

https://mumofthreedevils.wordpress.com/2013/01/31/dish-of-the-week-40-altair-ezio-and-connor/

In that post I talked about my interest in three game characters from Assassins Creed and the possibility of a film.
I knew that a screenplay had been written  but I didn’t know about a release date and speculated about summer this year.
I also knew that IMDB had listed Michael Fassbender as rumoured to be playing one of the characters called Altair.

I was a little unsure about Michael Fassbender in that role and I speculated that he would possibly be better in the role of Desmond whom the whole game revolves around in the first place.
Altair, Ezio and Connor are simply Desmond’s ancestors and each have there own part to play in the whole story.

Well, I have noticed that recently, that particular post has been picking up quite a few views so I wondered what had changed.
I’ve just taken a look at IMDB and I have discovered that we now have a firm date set for release of August 7th 2015
So I was a year out with my release prediction.
However, Michael Fassbender is now listed as playing Desmond!
So I got that one spot on!

They still haven’t announced any more cast members and I’m getting a little excited now.
I really want to know who they are getting to play Altair, Ezio and Connor.

Are they going to be following the games and doing it as a trilogy and therefore….
Film one and Altair with the Knights Templar and the Third Crusade.
Film two with Ezio during the Renaissance.
Film Three with Connor and the American Frontier in the mid 17oo’s

or are they going to be combining the three games and creating one amazing story arc in one film?

If they go for the three movie option, Michael Fassbender will have to sign up for all three because his character is pivotal to the whole thing.

I just hope the casting of Altair, Ezio and Connor comes up to my high hopes and I really hope the costume designers do a good job and really look at the amazing designs for the characters from the games.
There is the potential for some really sexy imagery.

Assassins creed 02

I’d also like to be able to gush about these characters as real people and not game characters!! Which is just a little bit weird!

UPDATE

Just goes to show I’m not a gamer!!
Apparantly there is the potential for 6 films, not just 3.
Looking into the gaming side of things the games go as follows…
Assassin’s Creed 1
Assassin’s Creed 2
Assassin’s Creed – Brotherhood
Assassin’s Creed – Revelations
Assassin’s Creed 3
Assassin’s Creed 4 – Black Flag

If you have the time, take a look at this Youtube video which shows the cinematic trailers for all 6 games.
It will give you a really good feel about how rich these films could be.

I think I am correct in saying that AC 1, 2 and 3 are a complete story arc in their own right.
It is these three that I’m assuming will be either one film or a trilogy.
Brotherhood, Revelations and Black Flag are all prequels, sequels and fill ins for those three games.
I’m sure that at some point an actual gamer will correct my mistakes.

WHO ARE THEY ASKING?

I’ve just been enjoying my morning ritual of milky coffee after an unusually long lay in.
I’ve been having a little trawl around the internet and came across a BBC Newsbeat feature talking about Glamour Magazine’s top 20 sexiest men of 2013 poll.

I was very happy with Number 1 and for the whole, it’s not a bad line up but for the life of me I cannot understand why Robert Pattinson in still  making the list, especially ahead of such hotties as Liam and Chris Hemsworth and Benedict Cumberbatch!
The only saving grace is that he’s been number 1 for the previous 4 years and Henry has knocked him off his thrown!!

I am absolutely gobsmacked that Justin Bieber is even on the list along with Harry Styles and the fact that they are both ahead of Channing Tatum and Ian Somerhalder is mindblowing.
I can only assume that the 95,000 people polled were under the age of 18 because young ladies and more mature women wouldn’t look twice at the little twerps.

So here it is.
I’ve added photos because that was fun!
There maybe some little comments too. Let me know your thoughts!
If you are a Justin Bieber fan and hate me for my comments…… good!! I really don’t care.

1. Henry Cavill
Number 01
Absolutely perfect choice for number 1.

2. Robert Pattinson
Number_02
Can I just vomit now?
I have NEVER been able to understand how this man has become as popular as he is, how he always makes it to the top of polls, is one of the most miserable people going and still keeps getting leading roles.
Come on girls, just because he’s a sparkly vampire doesn’t make him God!

3. Liam Hemsworth
Number 03
OK, I can understand this one. He comes from a very good looking family but he should never have been ahead of Chris!

4. Tom Hiddleston
Number 04
A Brit who is successfully taking over Hollywood.
Loki is a brilliant character and he is a fun and charismatic man to boot!

5. Benedict Cumberbatch
Number 05
What can I say, he’s been on my Dish of the Week in the past.
He may be a very odd looking person but there’s something very attractive about him.
Love him!

6. Harry Styles
Number 06
Really? and ahead of Chris Hemsworth too! Shocking.

7. Chris Hemsworth
Number 07
Yum, yum and yum!

8. Idris Elba
Number 08
Never really hit my radar but I can see how he made the list.

9. Jamie Campbell Bower
Number_09
Totally not my cup of tea.
Murron likes him though and I can understand why.

10. Justin Bieber
Number 10
This is the one that makes me totally incredulous.
I can’t believe how he made it into the top 20 let alone the top 10!!
What a complete Dickhead. Just look at that photo. The over the top tattoos, that rediculous cap and that pose.
Is that supposed to be an ‘I look really cool’ pose? Because it’s actually a ‘wave goodbye to my career’ pose.
Trying to look cool and grown up and like a rapper when in actuality there is nothing cool about him and he sings like a girl.
This young man had everything going for him and he is simply pissing it all down the crapper!
He is surrounded by ‘yes’ men who haven’t got the balls to say no to him.
His advisers need to be shot or if they are giving him the right advise and he’s simply ignoring them, then he deserves everything he gets.

11. Charlie Hunnam
Number 11
Not my cup of tea but I can see why he’s made it to the list.

12. Ian Somerhalder
Number_12
Regular readers will know about my thoughts on this one.
He should have been in the top 5! and definately should have been ahead of Bieber.

13. Matt Bomer
Number 13
Mmm, mm, mmmmm

14. Johnny Depp
Number 14
Always good to see on the list.

15. Olly Murs
Number 15
I’m having a little problem with this one.
OK, he’s cute and cheeky but in the same league as Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Ian Somerhalder and Channing Tatum?
I don’t think so.

16. Michael Fassbender
Number 16
Another one I can understand being on the list but again, not really my cup of tea.

17. Channing Tatum
Number 17
Should really be in the top 5

18. Rafael Nadal
Number_18
Nope, don’t understand this one at all.

19. Matt Smith
Number 19
Another odd looking chap who is strangely attractive
Only on the list because he’s (was) Dr Who!

20. Robert Downey Jnr
Number 20
Should always make it to any list!

So there you have it.
It will be interesting to compare it to this years list in December.
Hopefully JB would have screwed up so badly he drops out of existence but that’s just my opinion.
I just need to remember to take a look.
Think I’ll pop it onto my calendar.

Right, time to spend the afternoon cleaning and readying the house for me getting back to work tomorrow.
Oh happy days.
