CALL ME BY YOUR NAME

I have just managed to catch up on a film that was released back in October here in the UK.
I completely missed it at the cinema! and now I can’t wait for it to be released on DVD.

Call Me By Your Name.

What a beautiful film.

IMDB states….

In Northern Italy in 1983, seventeen year-old Elio begins a relationship with visiting Oliver, his father’s research assistant, with whom he bonds over his emerging sexuality, their Jewish heritage, and the beguiling Italian landscape.

What’s not to love about this film.
It’s set in Italy, a country I absolutely fell in love with last summer.
Oliver is played by Armie Hammer.

Armie Hammer 2

An actor I have admired for a while now.
In fact, I feel ‘Dish of the Week number 74’ on the horizon.

It is beautifully shot and brings back lots of lazy Italian afternoon feels (I really want to go back!!)

The acting is stunning and if Timothee Chalamet doesn’t get an Oscar (or at least a nomination) for his portrayal of Elio, there is no justice in this world.

It is the story of self discovery and forbidden love, unable to be expressed in an unforgiving world and time.
It is a stunning film, both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
I actually found myself crying during the last few minutes.

Elio, Elio, Elio, Elio!!
Oliver….. I remember everything!
