AND SO IT BEGINS….

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away……

Well, actually not that far away.
55 miles or just over an hour in the car at Pinewood Studios in London and some of it, right on my doorstep at the Cardington Airship Sheds just 3 miles away!!
Star Wars episode nine will start filming on Wednesday this week!!Star wars blue

Redemption for Kylo?
Balance for Kylo and Rey?
Dare I say the word ‘grey’?
NOT A CLUE!
Only 16 months to go to find out.

The cast has FINALLY been confirmed.
Adam and Daisy will obviously be reprising their roles of Kylo and Rey.
John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran will be back as Finn, Poe and Rose.
Mark Hamill is back as Luke, even though he died in the last film so it’s likely that force ghosts will be back. Will Uncle Luke be tormenting Kylo?
Carrie Fisher is returning as Leia!! and they are staying true to their word about not using CGI to create Leia by using existing unreleased footage that was filmed during the first two movies.
A welcome return to the SW universe is Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian.
And yes… my General is back to HOPEFULLY kick some ass before he ultimately dies as Domhnall Gleeson reprises his role of General Hux.

And there you have it.
I don’t have much in the way of expectations.
I’ve learnt over the last few years that most of the fun of these films is the speculation about story lines and the build up to each release and then ultimately having everything knocked on the head and going in completely the opposite direction.

I know that I would love to see redemption for Kylo. He may not survive but I want him redeemed. I also want to see at least one scene where he confronts his Mother. I’m just hoping that a scene like that has been filmed previously and never used.

I want more information about Rey. There is something very different and powerful about her. It needs explanation. How and why is she still linked to Kylo through the force. Snoke said that he’d created the link but they were still linked at the end of Last Jedi AFTER Snoke had been killed.

What I want most of all from the last film is to finally see General Hux in all his glory.
Kicking Kylo’s ass and biting back after everything he went through in the Last Jedi.
In the final shot of him in the Last Jedi, he looks like a man with a burning desire for revenge and is just biding his time until he gets his chance.
He’s going to die doing it, I have no doubt about that, but give him a chance to get his dignity back, please!! Domhnall may be a funny guy and General Hux was the comic relief for the Last Jedi but (if you read the books) Hux has a past and he’s pretty ruthless. Give him chance to show it. (Beyond blowing up a few planets of course)
He even shares something in common with Kylo in the fact that he killed his own father!
Technically he got someone else to do the killing, but that’s just semantics.

Hux dog

And so it begins. A 16 month wait for a conclusion.
16 months of reading what people are speculating.
16 months of taking in any snippet of information we are given or photo that is released.

And now I have to get back to the mundane task of housework and uni work.
Oh the joy.

PETER RABBIT

OK, here is my quick review of Peter Rabbit.
I won’t deny that it’s a very biased review as one of my favourite actors is Domhnall Gleeson who plays Thomas McGregor.
The man can do no wrong in my eyes.
He’s beautiful, hilarious, can be totally serious when needed, does the doe eyes and panicked expressions perfectly.
Just look at this expression!!

Peter Rabbit 7

After the start of the all out war with the rabbits, Thomas is officially introduced to Peter by Bea and has to fain a begrudging smile and interest in the rabbits because he likes Bea and Bea likes the rabbits.

Anyway, back to Peter Rabbit (or General Hux gets a garden!!)

I have to admit, Peter Rabbit was a lot more enjoyable than I expected it to be.
I think that what made it more enjoyable was the fact that the audience consisted of lots of kids who absolutely adored the film and their giggles and laughter were infectious!
Although I was a little distraught at how many of the malicious little rug rats absolutely wet themselves when Thomas McGregor got electrocuted or hurt by the bunnies!!

When we first meet Thomas, he absolutely IS General Hux!!
Suited and not a hair out of place and is even said to be at his happiest when ‘rallying his troops’ as a manager at Harrods.

Peter Rabbit 2

Throughout the film, he is slowly reformed into a much more relaxed person who falls completely in love with the heroine of the movie, Bea and overcomes his hatred of rabbits.

Peter Rabbit 10

Ah, the rabbits, beautifully animated.

James Corden is absolutely perfect as Peter. Just the right side of confident and cocky, although Daisy Ridley’s crazy Cottontail is hilarious!!
That said, I think the rooster steals the show.
Waking every morning and shrieking his surprise at the return of the sun.

Peter Rabbit 9

He even gets his own little story arc with each morning becoming increasingly hilarious and concluding with a scene in the end titles that every parent can relate to.

I would have to conclude by saying that this film benefits from an audience of kids and that’s usually a real hate of mine.
Thoroughly enjoyable and worth a watch. Probably even better at a Saturday morning kids club showing!!

1 WEEK!!!!

Look at that countdown.
Single digits.

In 7 days and 12 hours, I will be sat in our local cinema watching the Force Awakens and eagerly awaiting the midnight viewing of the Last jedi.

The cast, including a very relaxed looking Adam Driver, are currently all in Japan for a big Red Carpet event with rumours of a ‘special screening’ of the film.

1817

The world premiere will be taking place in Los Angeles on (I believe) 8th December and the European premiere will be at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 12th December.

So!! expect spoilers to start feeding their way onto the internet from tomorrow.
Time for a blackout on social media if you are adamant about going into the film unspoiled.
I for one, love spoilers.
You’re never 100% certain they are correct and for me it all just adds to the excitement and anticipation of a film.

I have loved some of the press junket interviews I have seen so far and I am pleased that Domhnall Gleeson is actually being included in a lot of the press for this film.
This gives me great hope that he plays a bigger part this time around. It will be good to see Hux get more than 3 minutes of screen time.

There has been one moment during recent interviews that completely stole my heart however.
If you read my blog regularly you will know that I am a huge Adam Driver fan and that one of the things that makes Adam so endeering is his complete lack of confidence in his own work. He has major anxieties about appearing in public and always looks decidedly uncomfortable on red carpets and in interviews.

The cast and director of Last Jedi were all on Jimmy Kimmel the other night, Adam included. He was at the end of the front row of guests, furthest away from Jimmy and he kept himself very quiet during the entire show.
Towards the end of their segment, as the show was going to a break, you can clearly see Daisy Ridley, leaning around Laura Dern, giving Adam a thumbs up to make sure he’s OK!!

Talk about heart melting moment!!

Anyway, that’s my fangirling done for the day.
I have GOT to get my essay done today if it kills me.
Then I’m off out to see a preview screening of ‘Stronger’ with Jake Gyllenhaal.

CHILAXING AND HAPPY

It’s going to be a long weekend. My essay must be written, even if it kills me.

So this evening I’m chilling with a few drinks and trawling the internet for all things Star Wars: The Last Jedi and I’ve just found this little behind the scenes beauty.

Adam is going to look stunning if he does this fighting without his helmet! I can’t wait.

The talk show interviews are beginning to start and tonight sees most of the cast on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, including Daisy Ridley, Andy Serkis, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christine, Kelly Marie Tran, Domhnall Gleeson and writer/director Rian Johnson. (ADAM AND DOMHNALL!!)
Not that I can watch it here in the UK but apparantly clips will be up on Youtube by tomorrow lunch time.

So, just in time for a lunch break from writing my essay!

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Mark Hamill will be on one of my favourite shows on December 15th, Graham Norton!
I love this show. Graham really knows how to get the laughs with and at his guests. I’m just so glad Adam is not going to be on the couch. I don’t think his anxieties could handle Graham Norton!!

HERE WE GO!!

Countdown has well and truly started for ‘The Last Jedi’ in December.

Today, Disney revealed a sizzle real from the filming.

Bedsides a very quick glimpse of General Hux looking very sleek with his mullet, Kylo is looking incredibly hot!!

Daisy rehearing to fight who? The Knights of Ren maybe?

TLJ 5

Adam rehearsing to fight who? His own Knights maybe? Actually I don’t really care. He just looks really hot!!

TLJ 4

John Boyega in an Imperial uniform!

TLJ 6

This is what I love about a build up to a movie like this.
We just don’t know anything. It’s all hearsay and rumour.
Just so long as Adam keeps looking pretty, I’ll keep eating it all up until I see it!

Can’t wait!!

DISHETTE OF THE WEEK #3 – DAISY RIDLEY

Right, I’ve been saying for years that I’ll do a Dishette of the Week to accompany my Dish of the Weeks.
I have made a half hearted start with one in March 2013 and one in April 2014.
I completely missed 2015!!

It’s time to put things right.

So Dishette of the Week is shifting into a new gear to keep up with guys.
Dishette of the Week number three can only be Daisy Ridley!!
To go alongside her Dish of the Week Star Wars colleagues, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac.

Daisy Ridley 1

Born in London in April 1992 and a relative newcomer to the world of acting that started in 2013.
She is extremely pretty, vibrant and bubbly in personality.
She has had various small roles on UK TV, most notably in Casualty, Silent Witness and Mr Selfridge.

Star Wars is her first big movie! And what a movie to start your career in.
She is absolutely kick ass as Rey who discovers her force sensitivity and clashes with Kylo Ren and completely knocks him on his ass!

Big things will be happening for both Rey and Kylo in Episode VIII and I can’t wait to find out what.

I just hope that Daisy doesn’t get stuck in a rut with Star Wars.
She’s so young and talented and it will be interesting to see how her career progresses.

ALARM BELLS

So, yesterday saw the arrival of Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Mark Hamill in Belfast.

691

My heart skipped a few beats as all recent theories and supposedly leaked information articles I’ve been reading about Star Wars VIII sprang to mind.

I know that the scenes on ‘The Island’on which Rey finds Luke at the end of Ep VII are filmed in Ireland.
The fact that it looks like Kylo will now be paying a visit to this island is very exciting!!
Only another 19 months to go to get anything definitive….grrrr.

My family and friends will never understand how happy this little snippet of news makes me.

Tumblr…..
Tumblr understands fully, the extent of this news.

I LOVE TUMBLR!!!
