MY ADVENT CALENDAR – DAY 23

Day 23 – Chris Pratt

What can I say.
This man is perfection.
He’s extremely funny, he’s down to earth, he’s an amazing Dad, he loves his food, he has the ability to transform himself into a hollywood hunk of a leading man and everyone wants a piece of him at the moment.
He’s hot property.

A LITTLE PREDICTION

OK, time to make a complete fool of myself.
I’ve been getting a little feeling lately so I’m going to put it out there.
It would seem I’m not the only one with this feeling either after doing a little internet trawling this evening.
It could just be wishful thinking but I’m hoping not.

A few weeks ago in my ‘Dish of the Week’ dedicated to Chris Pratt, I stated the following….

Apparantly, Steven Spielberg, who was the executive producer on Jurassic World and hand picked Chris for it, is now eyeing Chris up to take on the role of Indiana Jones in the re-boot currently being developed by Disney.
To be completely honest, I can’t think of anyone better suited for it at the moment. He would be perfect!’

Pratt Indiana

I have no idea who’s manipulated image this is but it’s fantastic. If anyone can identify the creator, let me know and I’ll give credit where credit is due!

Anyway, to add to my excitement about that prospect, this week we hear that Disney have announced a Han Solo origin film.
This announcement has since caused a bit of excitement on the internet with everyone and their Mum saying how perfect Chris Pratt would be!!

They are absolutely right!!

At this particular point in time I think Chris Pratt is standing on the precipice of making the biggest career decision he will ever make.
Forget the people who say ‘he’s already being eyed up for Indiana Jones so he can’t possibly do Han Solo!’
Why Not? Harrison Ford did!
It makes complete sense to have the same actor play the same parts in the new movies.
Let’s face it, everyone loves the cheeky but gorgeous Chris Pratt at the moment.
The more we can see of him on the big screen the better is all I can say.

DISH OF THE WEEK #61 – CHRIS PRATT

Number 61 is Chris Pratt….. again!

OK, I know he was Dish of the Week #59 but at that time I described him as a “strange attraction.”

Well, after spending waaaay too much time watching him in various interviews and TV appearances on Youtube, watching some of Parks and Recreation, Watching ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ for the umpteenth time and going to see ‘Jurassic World’ twice already, I can safely say that he has been upgraded from ‘strange attraction’ to full on ‘hottie’!

Chris Pratt is adorable!
He’s not all about his appearance and actually prefers to be a little meatier. He loves his food.
However, we must thank whoever it was that saw Chris in Parks and Recreation and then thought he’d be a perfect Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy turning Chris from this…….

chris pratt 6 chris pratt 7

into this!…….

chris pratt 9 chris pratt 8

He’s is a cheeky chubster!

chris pratt 10

But boy does he buff up well!

chris pratt 11 chris pratt 12

chris pratt 4

He comes across as a bit of a dork which makes him all the more adorable.
He also seems like a really down to earth guy who loves to have fun.

You have to feel sorry for Chris though because now he’s hot property!
He’s currently filming a remake of the Magnificent 7 and has another sci-fi in pre-production, so he needs to stay in shape.
No pizza and beer.

We know there’s definately going to be another Guardians of the Galaxy and there is a rumour…..
I like this rumour!!!

It would be perfect!

So, watch this space, it could be getting filled with lots of Chris along with Joel and although it may seem like I’ve forgotten about him, Karl too!!

DINOS IN 3D

Today is going to be a good day.

A nice slow morning.
Out for breakfast with hubster a bit later.
But at lunch time we are going to the cinema to see the new chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise, ‘Jurassic World’!
Dinosaurs in 3D!

Chris Pratt made it to my Dish of the Week list last year at number 59 and at the time I called him a “strange attraction”.
Since then I have seen him in more interviews and behind the scenes snippets and to be completely honest, I now love the guy!
He’s such a dork and he seems so down to earth and just plain happy!

DEDICATION

I like actors with a bit of dedication.
Actors that pull out all the stops to play a part.
Actors like Johnny Depp who live and breath their characters, especially Jack Sparrow.
Taking time out of filming in the UK to surprise a school assembly ‘in character’! after one of the students wrote him an invitation letter.

Johnny Depp school

Chris Pratt honouring his Superbowl bet with Chris Evans when he stopped by Christopher’s Haven in Boston to visit with sick children dressed as Peter Quill from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Chris P and Chris E

And then Chris Evans returning the favour and visitng sick kids dressed as Captain America in Seattle!

Chris P and Chris E 2

Not just charitable dedication either.
Actors who go one step further to portray a role and dramatically change their look.

Charlize Theron for her Oscar winning performance in Monster.
Amazing what a little extra weight and makeup can do to a person.

Charlize 2 Charlize 1

Christian Bale who went from painfully thin in the ‘Machinist’ to Batman Buff in just 6 months.

Christian Bale

And these are just a small sample of dedicated actors who take things to the next level.

Well it looks like Jake Gyllenhaal is being added to the list of amazing actors with a bit of dedication.
He actually made it to my Dish of the Week posts back at number 2 when he grabbed my interest after he buffed up to play the Prince of Persia.

Jake 1

He’s done it again.
Last year he lost 25 pounds to play the deliciously creepy Lou Bloom in ‘Nightcrawler’

Jake G 01
Only to go straight in buffing up to play Billy Hope in the film Southpaw due out later this year and he is unrecognisable!

Jake G 02

I honestly don’t think I could have that kind of dedication!

OH YES!!

There is a rumour.
In my opinion a very exciting rumour.

Let me explain.
As a movie loving child of the 80’s, one of my favourite actors is Harrison Ford.
Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Rick Deckard, Jack Ryan….. I could go on.

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the last Indiana Jones movie.
It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t as exciting and original as the previous 3.
One of the issues was the gap between it and the previous movie.
It was too big and the innevitable ageing of Harrison Ford did not help the movie.

However, Indiana Jones is a brilliant character and there’s plenty of scope for new exciting movies.
So, with Hollywood in re-boot mode in recent years it seems only natural that they are looking to replace Harrison Ford.

They dodged a bullet in the last movie with the seeming handover to Indiana’s Son played by Shia Labeouf, an actor who has since proved himself to be a narcissistic dickhead.
His fame has gone right to his head and he is now so demanding and difficult to work with that Directors are avoiding him.

Anyway, let’s get back to this rumour.
The rumour is that they are looking at Chris Pratt for the role!!
How perfect would that be?!!!

I know, I know, it’s early days, nothing has been confirmed and they could well go for someone else but what a missed opportunity would that be?!

END OF THE YEAR ROUNDUP

OK, so I have a very short 4.5 hour shift to do today to make up my full hours after doing a short shift on Xmas day.
I’m back to full shifts on Mon, Wed’s (New year’s Eve) and Thurs (New year’s day)
I have a dental appointment on Tues morning and I’m going to my Brothers for drinks and nibbles on Tues afternoon.
So today is the only chance I have to do my roundup for the year.

All in all, it’s been a better year this year.
We still had all the medical issues kicking around and money is still tight but we made the decision NOT to stress about it this year.
Me and Ian pushed the budget and invested in Unlimited Cinema cards which have been an absolute joy to have.
I have been to the cinema a grand total of 48 times.
Taking the kids to the cinema is now not so stressfull because we are not worrying about the cost quite so much.

We made the decision to spend more time together as a couple.
Even if it’s just the cinema trips and the occasional breakfast out.
Sometimes, if finances allow, we even manage to take the kids for a breakfast treat.
This alone has made a big difference for us this year.

We have seen big changes in our eldest daughter Murron who started college in September.
She has the freedom of Bedford because of her bus pass, she has a boyfriend she’s been with now for almost a year and she’s absolutely loving college!
I can’t believe the change in her.
She gets herself out of bed in time to catch the bus for college, even if she’s not feeling good.
We couldn’t even do that with a cattle prod while she was at school!
She may be treating the house as a hotel but at least she’s happy!

While finances have been tight, as usual, they have actually been better controlled this year.
So much so that me and Ian actually bought each other Xmas presents this year for the first time since having the kids.

I have only had 9 Dish of the Week’s this year.
Technically only 7 because Joel Kinnaman had 2 of those entries, Karl Urban had 1 and they both battled it out on a joint entry!

and Chris Pratt

My blogging started off really well in January as it usually does and then by summer it started to slow down until we reached december which has had a grand total of just 6 posts, including this one!
I really must try to do at least one a day next year.

Next year is going to be full of landmark celebrations.

Dharma will be 13
Marjorie will be 16
Murron will be 18
Ian will be 50
and we will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary in August with a family holiday to York.

There are lots of other things I could have blogged about this year but for various reasons, I can’t.
Needless to say, we plan to keep next year under control like this year.
We will continue with our Unlimited Cinema membership.
We will continue to enjoy our occasional breakfasts out, including the kids.

My priorities for the year are….. and strictly in this order….
1. My family’s health and happiness and my family in general.
2. My own health and happiness.
3. Work.

I may be doing some soul searching over the next year.
If certain things don’t change I may take a drastic decision before the end of 2015, we’ll see.
Keep checking into my blog to find out.

I hope everyone has a fabulous new year!

Finally, for anyone interested, I started keeping a simple log of films that I’ve watched this year.
I’m surprised I kept it going all year!
The list topped 338 (finalised at 340) films last night and there is the potential for a couple more before the year is over.

DISH OF THE WEEK #59 – CHRIS PRATT

Dish of the Week number 59 is another strange attraction.

Chris Pratt.

I have only seen him in Guardians of the Galaxy and in that he is the cheeky, groovy, accidental hero Starlord.

chris pratt 1

chris pratt 2

Although he had buffed up quite nicely to play Starlord, he is probably better known for a TV series called Parks and Recreation.
In that his chracter is not exactly into healthy living. He loves his food and drink.

chris pratt 3

It would seem that Chris also loves his food and drink.
He’s certainly not an actor that spends all his spare time in the Gym. He enjoys his life.
He’s doing something right because he’s married to Anna Faris.

chris pratt 5

From the interviews I’ve seen him do for Guardians of the Galaxy, he comes across as a bit of a joker and a thoroughly nice bloke.
We will see him next year, all pumped up again, for the new Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World.

chris pratt 4

So there you have it.
Probably one of the most down to earth people on my Dish of the Week list so far.
I would love to sit across a table from him with his wife and my husband and enjoy a good meal, a few pints and a good laugh!!

I think I may just have to give Parks and Recreation a go.
