EASIEST DECISION EVER!

I decided to make the most of this day off between 4 long days.
I dragged the hubster out of bed and after a bit of a tidy up and Murron’s trip to the dentist, we made our way to MK to watch a film.
We went to see Man Up, a Simon Pegg rom com and it was pretty good.
We followed that with an obligatory trip to Wagamamas for some noodles.

Back in Bedford I dropped Ian off at home in time for the kids to get in from school and I disappeared to Tesco to see this weeks round up of DVD releases.
I can honestly say it was a really difficult decision to make today……. NOT!!

The new releases included 50 Shades of Grey with Jamie Dornan and Blackhat with Chris Hemsworth.
Let me see… 50 Shades or Blackhat? 50 Shades or Blackhat?
Easiest decision EVER!!!
Blackhat won hands down.
Chris Hemsworth could have been in a film as Postman Pat and it would have been the easiest decision ever.

Now, it had better be a good film after all that.
It’s one I actually missed at the cinema.

SHOULDER TO WAIST RATIO = YUM!

I’ve had a lovely week off work.
I’ve spent time just pottering around the house, watching movies, going out to breakfast and having a lovely meal out to celebrate my birthday.
I’ve done a tiny amount of college work and absolutely no work in my garden what so ever!!
I may just regret that but… hey ho!!

Anyway, I’ve just taken a look at some of the films I’ve watched over the last week.

I wanted to see what attracted me to them.
There are 2 films starring Tom Cruise and these films I would put down to great stories and effects, as I have never found Tom Cruise himself to be very appealing.
There is one Karl Urban movie and it is also a great action/comedy.
There are surprisingly no Joel Kinnaman movies in there but that may be rectified tonight as I fancy a little Robocop!
There is a young Mel Gibson movie in there. Blue eyes and incredible looks.
There is a classic movie in there with one of my very first hollywood crushes, Charlton Heston.
The bulk of the movies consist of heroes.
Superman, Prince of Persia, Captain America, The Avengers (Thor, Iron Man, Cap America, Hawkeye)

It’s when I look at those hero movies that I begin to notice a pattern.
The shoulder to waist ratio of most of the actors…. particualarly Chris Evans…… is something I find very appealing.
So does my daughter Marjorie apparantly as I found her giggling to herself everytime there was a close up shot of Chris Evans’ butt walking into shot in The Avengers!

Let’s start with Chris Evans.
He has played 2 superheroes on the big screen, Johnny Storm in Fantastic four and Steve Rogers (Captain America) in both Captain America movies and Avengers Assemble.
He was amazing looking with a cocky attitude in Fantastic four but has built on his physique for Captain America and now he has a shoulder to waist ratio to absolutely die for!

Chris Hemsworth as Thor also has a physique with and incredible shoulder to waist ratio.

Henry Cavill has been a bit of a surprise over the last few years.
He caught my attention in The Tudors but when this show finished he picked up work in Hollywood.
He started working on his physique for Immortals and then won the role of Superman in Man of Steel.
For Superman he expanded his physique even more until he was virtually unrecognisable from his role in The Tudors.

Shoulder to waist!

As a movie goer, I am in fangirl heaven at the moment.
There are countless superhero movies on the go.
Marvel and DC are battling it out for supremacy and so are the actors!!
It’s wonderful!

Where does poor old Joel stand in all of this?
He’s still my number one actor and it looks like he’s working on that shoulder to waist ratio.
Heaven on a stick would be him landing a superhero role with Marvel!!

AND…. CHILLAX!!

I’ve spent the afternoon with my feet up just relaxing and unwinding ready for my annual leave.
I’ve forgotten about the EON fiasco. That can wait until tomorrow and should be easily sorted.

This afternoon I’ve watched 2 movies from very different ages.
Both of them masterpieces in their own time.

The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston and Moon with Sam Rockwell.

I chose The Ten Commandments after seeing a trailer for Exodus, Gods and Kings.
This film looks amazing!!
I’ve always loved the big biblical epics of the early film years and have been waiting for someone to make an up to date one with modern special effects.
I was bitterly disappointed with Noah earlier this year.
After the appearance of the rock monsters and guns I just phased out of all interest in that piece of crap!!

Anyway, this looks really good and is based on the same story of The Ten Commandments.

Looks like one that’s actually going to get the blood pumping instead of making me think WTF is going on!
One thing the bible is good for…… amazing stories that make for great films.

I also saw a trailer for another movie that looks good while trawling youtube earlier today.
In the Heart of the Sea.
It’s based on the true story of the sinking of ‘The Essex’
The Essex was a whaling ship and back in 1820 and it was attacked and sunk by a sperm whale.
Survivors spent three months at sea and turned to cannibalism to survive!
There were only 8 crew members left when the ordeal was finally over.
The first mate and the cabin boy wrote accounts of the ordeal and those stories served as inspiration for Herman Melville’s novel ‘Moby Dick’.

I must admit, Chris Hemsworth looks absolutely stunning in this one.
Can’t wait!

Right, back to chillaxing.

WHO ARE THEY ASKING?

I’ve just been enjoying my morning ritual of milky coffee after an unusually long lay in.
I’ve been having a little trawl around the internet and came across a BBC Newsbeat feature talking about Glamour Magazine’s top 20 sexiest men of 2013 poll.

I was very happy with Number 1 and for the whole, it’s not a bad line up but for the life of me I cannot understand why Robert Pattinson in still making the list, especially ahead of such hotties as Liam and Chris Hemsworth and Benedict Cumberbatch!
The only saving grace is that he’s been number 1 for the previous 4 years and Henry has knocked him off his thrown!!

I am absolutely gobsmacked that Justin Bieber is even on the list along with Harry Styles and the fact that they are both ahead of Channing Tatum and Ian Somerhalder is mindblowing.
I can only assume that the 95,000 people polled were under the age of 18 because young ladies and more mature women wouldn’t look twice at the little twerps.

So here it is.

Absolutely perfect choice for number 1.

2. Robert Pattinson

Can I just vomit now?
I have NEVER been able to understand how this man has become as popular as he is, how he always makes it to the top of polls, is one of the most miserable people going and still keeps getting leading roles.
Come on girls, just because he’s a sparkly vampire doesn’t make him God!

3. Liam Hemsworth

OK, I can understand this one. He comes from a very good looking family but he should never have been ahead of Chris!

4. Tom Hiddleston

A Brit who is successfully taking over Hollywood.
Loki is a brilliant character and he is a fun and charismatic man to boot!

5. Benedict Cumberbatch

What can I say, he’s been on my Dish of the Week in the past.
He may be a very odd looking person but there’s something very attractive about him.
Love him!

6. Harry Styles

Really? and ahead of Chris Hemsworth too! Shocking.

7. Chris Hemsworth

Yum, yum and yum!

8. Idris Elba

Never really hit my radar but I can see how he made the list.

9. Jamie Campbell Bower

Totally not my cup of tea.
Murron likes him though and I can understand why.

10. Justin Bieber

This is the one that makes me totally incredulous.
I can’t believe how he made it into the top 20 let alone the top 10!!
What a complete Dickhead. Just look at that photo. The over the top tattoos, that rediculous cap and that pose.
Is that supposed to be an ‘I look really cool’ pose? Because it’s actually a ‘wave goodbye to my career’ pose.
Trying to look cool and grown up and like a rapper when in actuality there is nothing cool about him and he sings like a girl.
This young man had everything going for him and he is simply pissing it all down the crapper!
He is surrounded by ‘yes’ men who haven’t got the balls to say no to him.
His advisers need to be shot or if they are giving him the right advise and he’s simply ignoring them, then he deserves everything he gets.

11. Charlie Hunnam

Not my cup of tea but I can see why he’s made it to the list.

12. Ian Somerhalder

Regular readers will know about my thoughts on this one.
He should have been in the top 5! and definately should have been ahead of Bieber.

13. Matt Bomer

Mmm, mm, mmmmm

14. Johnny Depp

Always good to see on the list.

15. Olly Murs

I’m having a little problem with this one.
OK, he’s cute and cheeky but in the same league as Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Ian Somerhalder and Channing Tatum?
I don’t think so.

16. Michael Fassbender

Another one I can understand being on the list but again, not really my cup of tea.

17. Channing Tatum

Should really be in the top 5

18. Rafael Nadal

Nope, don’t understand this one at all.

19. Matt Smith

Another odd looking chap who is strangely attractive
Only on the list because he’s (was) Dr Who!

20. Robert Downey Jnr

Should always make it to any list!

So there you have it.
It will be interesting to compare it to this years list in December.
Hopefully JB would have screwed up so badly he drops out of existence but that’s just my opinion.
I just need to remember to take a look.
Think I’ll pop it onto my calendar.

Right, time to spend the afternoon cleaning and readying the house for me getting back to work tomorrow.
Oh happy days.

RUSH

I finally got to see Rush the other day.
I can honestly say that initially my thoughts about seeing it were based on the fact that Chris Hemsworth was in it!!

Shallow, I know.

I am NOT an F1 fan and unless I’m working, Ian is consigned to the bedroom to watch it.
I cannot see the thrill in watching a fast noisy car go around a track over and over again for hours and hours and hours………

I do however, remember all the hoo ha back in 1976 from my childhood.
I remember James Hunt as a regular on the TV thereafter and was just as shocked when he died at the age of 45 as his fans were.
I’d just forgotten that he was actually that young when he died!

Anyway, the film was brilliant, even from the viewpoint of a non F1 fan.
There is no endless car racing to bore the socks off you.
This film actually tells a story.
It perfectly portrays Hunt and Lauda from when they first met right through to the world championship of 1976.
Their private and public lives and of course the all important rivalry.

Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt was actually really good and a perfect choice for the part.
He lost a bit of the ‘Thor’ bulk to play the part but was just as scrummy!

Daniel Bruhl did an amazing job as Niki Lauda and was virtually indistinguishable from the real thing at some points.

I didn’t realise what a real asshole Niki Lauda was!!
The rivalry between these two was legendary and makes a particularly good film.

ANOTHER QUIET DAY

Today got off to a fairly good start.
Apart from being very wet and miserable, Dharma got up bright as a button and went off to school with Murron with no problems at all.
Poor old Marjorie on the other hand went to bed last night looking very grey and feeling very sick and stayed tucked up in bed.

It’s been a quiet morning.
I’ve done some food shopping for a few days and added to our Bluray collection by 2.
Rush and Mortal Instruments.

Haven’t seen Rush yet.
I’m not an F1 fan but I do remember James Hunt from my childhood.
It will be interesting to see what Chris Hemsworth does with the role because he looks amazing!

We’ve just had a visit from the heating engineer to service our hot air heating system from the dark ages and apart from needing a new filter it’s all still going OK.
When he’s gone I am going to snuggle on the sofa for a few hours, simply because I can.

SO DISAPPOINTED

It’s been an OK week.
The kids have been on half term and have kept themselves to themselves.
They enjoyed Halloween.
Murron spent loads of time with Tom. It’s getting very serious!!
Work has gone well and there have been no trips to A+E the GP or any dealings with the school having me tear my hair out.

We went to see Thor 2 on Wednesday.
We really enjoyed it.
We will definately be getting it on Bluray if only to see Chris like this again!!

The dark cloak outfit and all the soft lighting were beautiful!!

Anyway…. mind back on the blog….. mind back on the blog!!

Oh yes. I had an interesting experience yesterday.
Just as I went to lunch I popped to my locker to take some Paracetamol and Ibuprofen to keep my foot comfortable for the rest of my shift.
All was going well until about 45 minutes later when I suddenly felt very strange. A bit light headed and very warm and fuzzy.
It took me a little whilte to realise what I had done and after I went and checked my locker I confirmed my suspicion.
For the last couple of months I have taken Paracetamol and Ibuprofen a couple of times a day when I’m on my feet all day.
I have also kept just two tablets of Codeine Phosphate for really bad days but so far I have never had to use them.
In my rush yesterday I inadvertantly took 2 Codeine Phosphate instead of the Paracetamol tablets.
Needless to say I felt absolutely wonderful for a couple of hours!!
I won’t be carrying anymore Codeine Phosphate around in my bag.

Not a lot else to say really except I had planned something different for dinner for me and Ian tonight.
Earlier in the week I had spotted something at Tesco I really fancied trying.
It was called Chicken and Chorizo Girasoli. A kind of ravioli.
I got Ian some bolognese sauce and I had a carbonara sauce.
We were both really looking forward to it.
However….
It was the most tasteless and dissapointing meal I think I have ever purchased!!
We only had a couple of mouthfuls before giving up.
It was so disappointing.

So, what to have now?
M+M’s and a beer it is then.

Thor.

Mega testosterone movie.
A great start to another superhero franchise.
Of course, having all 6’3″ of Chris Hemsworth in it doesn’t hurt.
Nicely done.

Looking forward to the next movie due out in October.

DISH OF THE WEEK #29 – CHRIS HEMSWORTH

Dish of the week number 29 has taken me a little time to warm to.
I don’t know why really. He’s everything I love about a great looking man.
He’s tall at 6’3, he has beautiful blue eyes, a wonderfully deep smooth voice and he’s incredibly built!

My first encounter with him was in the recent re-boot of Star Trek where he had an on screen appearance of about 10 minutes as George Kirk, the father of James T Kirk.
In the build up to the new Avengers movie it was his appearance as Thor that really sealed the deal for me.

So here he is, all 6’3 of him. Chris Hemsworth.
