After posting Daisy Ridley as Dishette of the week number 3, there could only be one choice for Dishette number 4. Carrie Fisher.
What an amazing woman.
Born in 1956 and the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.
She hasn’t had an easy life and has really struggled with her fame.
Eddie Fisher left Debbie when Carrie was just 3 years old and married Debbie’s best friend Elizabeth Taylor.
She has been quoted as saying ‘she would have turned down the role of Princess Leia had she realized it would give her the celebrity status that made her parents’ lives difficult’
Her Mother’s acting career interfered with Carrie’s education so much that she never graduated.
That said, Carrie has gone on to become a prolific writer of original work.
She writes screenplays, most noteably the semi autobiographical ‘Postcards from the Edge’ for which she wrote the book and the screenplay for the film of the same title in 1990 which was nominated for 2 Academy Awards.
Carrie has been very upfront about her problems with drugs and her struggle with bipolar disorder.
She has also struggled with her weight and let’s face it, who hasn’t!!
She is now what I would class as ‘a bit of an eccentric.
She now appears comfortable in her own skin, says what she thinks ‘regardless’ and takes her little dog ‘Gary’ everywhere. And I do mean everywhere!
Poor Adam!! Looking a bit out of place holding Gary!!
Anyway, whether she likes it or not, she will always be know to us as Princess Leia.
A New Hope.
Empire Strikes Back.
Return of the Jedi.
And now, 30 years later, The Force Awakens.
Only now she is not a princess, she’s a General.
And as Lor San Tekka said, ‘to me, she is Royalty’
Right, I’ve been saying for years that I’ll do a Dishette of the Week to accompany my Dish of the Weeks.
I have made a half hearted start with one in March 2013 and one in April 2014.
I completely missed 2015!!
It’s time to put things right.
So Dishette of the Week is shifting into a new gear to keep up with guys.
Dishette of the Week number three can only be Daisy Ridley!!
To go alongside her Dish of the Week Star Wars colleagues, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac.
Born in London in April 1992 and a relative newcomer to the world of acting that started in 2013.
She is extremely pretty, vibrant and bubbly in personality.
She has had various small roles on UK TV, most notably in Casualty, Silent Witness and Mr Selfridge.
Star Wars is her first big movie! And what a movie to start your career in.
She is absolutely kick ass as Rey who discovers her force sensitivity and clashes with Kylo Ren and completely knocks him on his ass!
Big things will be happening for both Rey and Kylo in Episode VIII and I can’t wait to find out what.
I just hope that Daisy doesn’t get stuck in a rut with Star Wars.
She’s so young and talented and it will be interesting to see how her career progresses.
OK, here is Dishette of the Week number 2 but I suppose it’s technically a Dish of the Week by proxy!!
Dishette of the Week number two came to my attention in February.
Can you see where this is heading?
I’ve seen her in a few things like Iron Man 2, Chuck and Magic Mike.
Her new movie with Eric Bana looks quite spooky!
But she came to my attention for a very different reason.
She is very exotic looking and has great taste. Particularly in men!
If you Google her, she likes to flash the flesh a bit much in my opinion but otherwise, she has great dress sense.
She is only 5’4 and is dwarfed by her boyfriend at just over 6’2!
But the best thing about her is she makes him smile!
When Joel Kinnaman smiles, I’m happy!!
As long as she makes him smile, she can be one of my Dishettes of the Week!
Sadly this relationship ended not long after this blog.
It looks like it was a mutual split.
Since the split he has become a married man.
Meet Mrs Joel Kinnaman, Chloe Wattenstrom.
OK, I said a long time ago that because I was doing Dish of the Week and because I have a fascination with faces, I should really think about doing a Dishette of the Week.
Well as I am coming up to a few months of needing something to do I thought I’d make a start.
Dishette of the week number one is a really easy one for me.
I’ve only ever seen her in two films but she completely blew me away in both of them.
The bonus is that she’s actually 3 years older than me!
Come to think about it, that isn’t such a bonus because she looks incredible in her mid 40’s
The first film I saw her in was ‘Braveheart’.
She played Princess Isabelle.
She was elegant and feisty and completely beautiful.
The second film was ‘The World Is Not Enough’
Yes, she was a bond girl.
She played Elektra King. The kidnapped oil heiress rescued by Bond only to turn out to be the love interest of the Bond Villain.
She is a naturally beautiful woman and I would kill to look like her.
So, I have three years to lose the weight, win the lottery and pay for lots of plastic surgery.
So there you have it, my first Dishette of the Week.
