I SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH COSTUME DESIGN!

There was a time……… loooong ago, when I toyed with the idea of being a costume designer.
As a movie fan I knew that costumes are always a big part of what makes or breaks a film.
I even took needlework at O’level and made myself a herringbone winter coat that was fashionable at the time.
Unfortunately, I quickly found out that I enjoyed watching the films more than I enjoyed making clothes, so my dream died before I even left school.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I found out today that ‘Gucci’ starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver is going to start filming in Milan on 10th March.
A closer look at locations for shooting reveal that they will be shooting at some Villas in Lake Como and around Milan, Florence and Rome!!

OMG I’m so jealous. I would kill to have to work in all of those places.
The costume designers on that film not only get to work there, they have the enviable task of designing clothes for Adam Driver!!
Mmmm, maybe letting me loose with a tape measure around Adam would not be such a good idea!!

Anyway, the film tells the story of how Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, plotted to kill her husband, the grandson of renown fashion designer Guccio Gucci.
Lady Gaga is playing Patrizia and Adam is playing Maurizio.

A look at the life of Maurizio on Wikipedia revealed the following.
He was born on September 26, 1948 in Florence.
When his father died in 1983, Maurizio inherited his father’s majority stake in the company and launched a legal war against his uncle Aldo Gucci for full control of Gucci (a prosecution led by Rudolph Giuliani)
In 1988, Maurizio sold almost 47.8% of Gucci to the Bahraïn-based investment fund Investcorp and withheld the other 50%.
From 1991 to 1993, Gucci’s finances were in the red. Maurizio was blamed for spending extravagant amounts of money on the company’s headquarters in  Florence and Milan.
Maurizio went on to sell his stock in Gucci in 1993 for $170 million to the Bahrain-based investment group,  Investcorp.
In 1995, a year and a half after the sale of Gucci, he was gunned down by a hired hit man and his ex-wife Patrizia was convicted of arranging the killing in 1998.

I’m hoping the film will be telling this story as a whole, either just like this or through flash backs during Patrizia’s court case.
I want to see lots of Adam surrounded by Italy and in gorgeous clothes spending obscene amounts of money before he gets killed!!

The film is aiming for a November release in the US. No date for the UK yet.
