On January 9th, the Hollywood Critics Association Awards took place and Adam Driver was awarded ‘Actor of the Decade!’
They have just released this lovely little montage of work, and it struck me when I finished watching it that there isn’t a single piece of work in it that I haven’t seen, in fact, I own every one of the films used!
If I were forced to pick a favourite, I don’t think I could!! It would all depend on my mood at the time.
One of my go to feel good movies is ‘This is where I leave you’
If I’m looking to be emotionally moved, it has to be ‘Marriage Story’
If I’m looking for simple or thought provoking, it’s ‘Patterson’ or ‘Blackkklansman’
If I want a laugh, it’s ‘Logan Lucky’
The film I find myself going back to more than anything is ‘Hungry Hearts’
I haven’t even mentioned ‘What If’ ‘Midnight Special’ or ‘Silence’…. I could go on.
Anyway, this award is on top of the 31 wins, and counting so far, for ‘Marriage Story’ this awards season!!
The two big ones are coming up in the BAFTAs, for which he has already got a nomination for best actor and the Oscars, which will be announced on Monday.
His competition at the moment is Joaquin Phoenix.
They have both racked up between 40 and 50 nominations each this season for ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘Joker’.
Crucially, Adam has actually won a staggering 31 so far and Joaquin has only won 7.
BUT…
Joaquin took the first of the big ones with the Golden Globe.
So it literally is anyone’s game at the BAFTAs and (hopefully) the Oscars.
