So! After what has been possibly one of the worst weeks ever, I felt I needed a bit of a pick me up.
Let me explain.
I found out last week that my PAD document and my skills document for my Uni course were passed with flying colours, YAY!!
However….
I had dropped the ball with my final assignment and it was failed.
What does this mean?
I had an email from the exam board to say that my re-submission date is 20th March. So I now have a few weeks to get my shit together and put it right. The only problem is that I won’t have my result until mid April and my COHORT are graduating at the beginning of April. So I will miss graduation.
To say that I’ve been on a bit of downward spiral mentally and physically is an understatement. I thought I had finished with all the essay writing and was beginning to get back to some normality. The only thing that has really kept me sane this week is work! It’s been a busy week but I actually feel like I’m getting somewhere in what will be my new role as an RNA, a registered nurse associate. A position I WILL achieve when I get this final grade. I haven’t gone through 2 years of hell to not get it!!
I now find myself with 3 days off and after catching this Richard Curtis interview on Russell Howard, I think I’m in a bit of a chick flick kind of mood.
It wasn’t until I saw that interview that I realised what a wonderful bloke he actually is. I’ve heard people telling wonderful stories about working with him and when I looked back through his credits, I realised just how much wonderful content the man is actually responsible for.
As a Director, he is responsible for my all time favourite ‘chick flick’ About Time from 2013 and starring Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams. He is also responsible for another classic, Love Actually from 2003.
As a Producer, he is responsible for Four weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, About Time, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and he brought us the wonderful Vicar of Dibley TV series and is currently working on a Four Weddings and a Funeral TV series.
As a Writer, he is responsible for Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually, Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, War Horse, About Time and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, and he worked on comedy gold like Not the 9 o’clock News, Black Adder, Spitting Image and the Vicar of Dibley.
He also has countless credits for Red Nose Day and Comic Relief!
What an incredible contribution to film and TV and they are only my favourites. There’s so much more!
So, with the next three days off, I plan to do a bit of pampering. Today i’m getting my hair cut as the curls have been fighting back over the last couple of weeks. I may be heading to IKEA as I have plans to knock my hallway into shape over the weekend (I will write about that if it all goes to plan). Apart from a bit of flat pack building over the weekend, I intend to do NOTHING!! I am going to clear my head, get some booze and put my feet up and make it a Richard Curtis weekend and have a good bloody laugh… or cry, depending on what I watch.
