General diary entries

NOT HOLDING MY BREATH

Back in April 2018 (HERE) I wrote about a film called ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’.

Premiering in Cannes in May 2018 and Directed by Terry Gilliam, but most importantly, starring Adam Driver who looks AMAZING in it!

The only problem now is that I have been waiting patiently for it to arrive because it has been tied up in a legal battle about rights ownership ever since!!

It has been shown at countless film festivals across Europe, even here in the UK, that I couldn’t attend and it has been released at various locations across Europe, but the legal battle has, so far, stopped it from going on general release worldwide.

However…..

I keep a check on it in the hope that I will get to see it in some form and a few weeks ago I spotted it in the DVD/Bluray section on Amazon.
It was listed as ‘Currently unavailable’ and they didn’t know if they would be getting it or not, but it also had a date of Feb 7th with no pre-sale option.

I was intrigued and I kept my eye on it.
When I checked the site on Feb 7th, there it was!!! For sale with delivery for TODAY!!
I smashed the buy button so quick I nearly broke it!

I am writing this on Saturday morning and this is it’s current status….

Soooo close, but I’m not holding my breath.
I was let down with an order over Xmas that they eventually realised they couldn’t fulfill and refunded. So until this order arrives through my door, I won’t believe it’s a reality and I will FINALLY be getting to see it.
I would have rather seen it in the cinema but this is better than nothing and at least I get to see it again and again to my hearts content.

My only worry now is that I’ve hyped myself up about it too much.
I know it’s going to be a quirky and typically ‘Terry Gilliam’ film and I have enjoyed his films in the past, particularly ‘The Fisher King’ and ‘Twelve Monkeys’.

The Red Knight imagery in the Fisher King was really stunning!!

So! I need to take my mind off of this so I am going into town with the hubby while he gets his eyes checked. We’re going for a spot of lunch somewhere and then doing a bit of a Tesco shop.
I will be topping up the wine and nibbles so that I can put my feet up and ‘hopefully’, FINALLY, enjoy ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ tonight.

Then I have to seriously think about getting back on my diet on Monday.
I haven’t been too well over the last three weeks and it’s gone to pot! With lots of comfort eating and way too much wine.

Need to get myself a little bit fitter if I’m going to be trekking all over London for 4 days with daughter number one in June!!
