Since Star Wars The Last Jedi landed in December and divided the Star Wars community, the question left for many fans was, after the death of the people’s princess, Carrie Fisher, just how are they going to finish the current trilogy?
Disney have stated from day one that they will NOT use CGI to re-create Leia.
So fans have been left to wonder just how she will be included in episode 9 and will Kylo get the conclusion he desperately needs.
Have they been lucky enough to have masses of existing footage they can cut into the story line or will they need to re-cast?
There is now talk about re-casting Princess Leia.
SERIOUSLY?!!
If they did, it’s a risky step.
They are going to have to get the casting spot on or fans will NEVER forgive them.
In a recent article on movieweb.com, 5 actresses have been theorised.
Only one, in my opinion, could seamlessly slot into Leia’s place
The articles states that a petition is calling for Meryl Streep to finish the role.
Again…. SERIOUSLY?!!!
This would be a HUGE mistake. She is totally wrong, as is Olivia Coleman and Sally Hawkins who are both too young. Robin Wright and Laura Linney are both too….glamourous and again, a little too young looking.
No, in my opinion, the only actress who could justify replacing Carrie Fisher is Joely Fisher!!
Carrie’s half sister and Auntie to Billie Lourd, Carrie’s daughter who also has a small recurring part in the current trilogy.
In my opinion, she has similar looks and build to Carrie and it would be keeping it in the family for what would have to be Leia’s last outing in a Star Wars movie.
OK, there’s 11 years between Carrie and Joely but physically Joely is perfect and a good makeup artist could complete the look.
There is a script in place and filming starts at the end of July, so speculation starts right now!!
The last two films have confirmed how little we will know until we go and see the film in December 2019.
With that said, here is where the fun begins.
Every snippet of info a clue to what we can expect and with JJ Abrams back in charge, it’s going to be one hell of a ride and I just can’t wait!
