So! we have our first round of winners.
How did I do?
Not very well it would appear.
Best motion picture, drama, went to ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Moissouri’
I am disappointed it didn’t go to ‘Call Me By Your Name’ but I can see why.
I saw this one the other night and it was not what I expected!! A very good film.
Best motion picture, musical or comedy went to ‘Lady Bird’.
Yep, again I can see why this one grabbed a Globe. I watched it the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bonus…. I didn’t realise Timothee Chalamet was in it!!!
Best performance by an actor, drama, went to Gary Oldman for The Darkest Hour.
I have yet to see the Darkest Hour but from the clips I’ve seen, I can see why he’s getting all the votes, however, I’m completely bummed that Timothee Chalamet didn’t win!! Come on BAFTAs and Oscar’s, you can redeem yourselves!!
Don’t go for the already acclaimed actor in amazing makeup, go for the fresh young talent in a breathtakingly brave film.
Best performance by an actress, drama, went to Francis McDormand, for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Molly’s Game was a snore fest. This film was brilliant and from what I’ve seen, this is a much deserved accolade.
Best performance by an actor, musical or comedy, went to James Franco for The Disaster Artist.
Mmmm, I wanted to see Hugh Jackman get this one. I don’t know why but I find James Franco a bit….. up his own arse most of the time, which puts me off of his movies.
Best performance by and actress, musical or comedy went to Saoirse Ronan for Lady Bird.
The only one of the nominated movies I’ve seen and I can totally understand why Saoirse got the votes.
Best performance by and actor in a supporting role went to Sam Rockwell for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
A little disappointed Armie Hammer didn’t get it for Call Me By Your Name but I can totally see why Sam Rockwell got the votes. Brilliant performance.
Best performance by an actress in a supporting role went to Allsion Janney for I, Tonya.
I haven’t seen enough of the other performances to comment.
Best Director went to Guillermo del Toro for The Shape of Water.
Again, I haven’t seen enough of the others to comment yet.
So it would seem that the only prediction I got right was that This Is Me from The Greatest Showman won best original song!! Yay! Go me!!
So! a tentative start with my predictions.

I had to leave the last two categories in place. I want to see Star Wars win as much as possible this year!!
Now we just have to wait until Feb 18th for the final results.
We will know the Oscar nominations by then but the final voting will not take place until Feb 20th through to Feb 27th! So the BAFTA winners could have a sway in the way the Academy members vote.
There is only one film on my mind as it stands and that’s Call Me By Your Name.
I absolutely adore this film and want to see it win as much as possible, particularly Timothee Chalamet. What a stunning and very brave performance he pulled off. Can’t wait to own it for myself so I can watch it whenever I want.
