Right, where do I start?
How do I explain what I’ve just watched?
Can I explain it?
Thank god for IMDB and Wikipedia where a lot of this information is pieced together from.
A few months ago I attempted to watch a series called Sense8 on Netflix.
I obviously wasn’t in the right frame of mind the first time around and I gave up after a couple of episodes.
You see, you REALLY need to be in the right frame of mind to watch this mind f##k of a programme.
How do I know this?
I tried it again and I’ve just binge watched the whole of the first season and the Xmas special.
HOLY COW!!
IMDB put it simply….
A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world’s order.
That’s it in a nutshell but there’s so much more to it.
Once you wrap your head around the concept it’s AMAZING!!
So clever.
8 people from around the world, all born at the same time. They all experience a vision of the violent death of a woman called Angelica and that is when they develop a mental and emotional connection. They become ‘sensates’. They learn that they can sense and communicate with each other and share their knowledge and skills. They can literally step into each other’s lives without ‘physically’ doing it.
This is so hard to explain!!!
They are helped along by another ‘sensate’ called Jonas, who has a link to Angelica. He is trying to protect them from another ‘sensate’ called ‘Whispers’ who is hunting them down by tapping into their psychic link.
The scenes where they ‘connect’ are particularly clever and ‘WOWZERS’ does it make the sex scenes incredibly hot.
Orgy anyone?
The diversity of the cast is awesome.
One from Iceland – Riley Blue
An Icelandic DJ living in London who is trying to escape a troubled past.
One from Germany – Wolfgang Bogdanow
A Berlin locksmith and safe-cracker who has unresolved issues with his late father and participates in organised crime.
One from Mexico – Lito Rodriguez
A closeted actor of Basque background living in Mexico City with his boyfriend Hernando.
One from Korea – Sun Bak
Daughter of a powerful Seoul businessman and a burgeoning star in the underground kickboxing world.
Two from America – Nomi Marks and Will Gorski
Nomi is a trans woman hacktivist and blogger living in San Francisco with her girlfriend Amanita. She was born Michael but changed her name to Nomi, which stands for “Know Me”
Will is a chicago police officer haunted by an unsolved murder from his childhood.
One from India – Kala Dandekar
A university educated pharmacist and devout Hindu in Mumbai who is engaged to marry a man she does not love.
One from Africa – Capheus “Van Damme” Onyango
A Matatu driver in Nairobi and a passionate fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme who is trying to earn money to buy AIDS medicine for his mother.
Over the course of the first series I have fallen in love with all of these characters.
They all have very different and troubled lives.
The only two who have ‘physically’ met are Riley and Will and I think these two are set to really go through the wringer in series 2.
However, when it comes to absolute favourites I will have to plump for Lito and his boyfriend Hernando. It simply doesn’t get any cuter or any hotter!!
They have both got bods to die for and watching them overcome Lito’s forced ‘outing’ during the season simply won my heart.
And just so you know… Lito’s Mum is a queen!!
Lito and Hernando would have to be hotly followed by the tragic Kala and Wolfgang!!
OMG!!
Kala is so unsure about what she’s doing but firmly believes it’s the right thing to do.
The man she is marrying is successful and handsome and she would have a good life, but she doesn’t love him.
Then she connects with Wolfgang and although they never physically meet, there is an overpowering feeling of love that develops between them but Wolfgang knows his dangerous life is not what she needs and he gives her up!!
This realtionship had better go somewhere in series 2 or I may just burst!!
Don’t let the photos fool you. Wolfgang and Kala have not ‘physically’ met yet!!
Confused?
Like I’ve been trying to say, this show is a real mind f##k and if you give it a go, I suggest you do it totally sober and concentrate!!
Roll on May when I can binge watch series 2!!
