2016 KICKS THE BUCKET!!

So 2016 was a disaster.
A totally depressing year and I don’t know anyone who was really feeling Xmassy at all.

As a hardened Star Wars fan, to end the year with the loss of both Carrie Fisher and her Mother Debbie Reynolds within 36 hours of each other is just mind numbing.

We can only hope that 2017 is better.

2016 is not going down without a fight though. I decided to pack away all the Xmas decs today to rid myself of any memories of 2016 and enjoy an evening in with my the hubster, but the decs fought back. Caught my arm nicely on a wire from a garland.

In 2016 I watched 301 films and went to the cinema 48 times. Not quite as impressive as last year but that’s something I intend to work on in 2017.

In my head I see a better year.
Jobs for both myself and my husband are pretty secure at this point and finances by the end of 2017 should be taking an up swing.

I have my brother’s wedding in Italy to look forward to in August even though I will be going without the hubby and kids.

My obsessions with Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson continue and I’m glad to say there’s lots to look forward to.

It all kicks off tomorrow evening when I will be going to see Adam’s new film, Silence. One to watch out for at the Oscars.

He then stars in ‘Girls’ Series 6 in february. This is the last in the series and will hopefully answer the questions about Hannah and Adam and Jessa and the rest of the gang and not leave us screaming at their decisions.

Then things are a little quiet until later in the year when he stars alongside Daniel Craig in ‘Logan Lucky’ and then of course with Domhnall in the much anticipated Star Wars Episode VIII.

I have no idea what his plans are for the rest of the year. He may focus on his non profit charity ‘Arts in the Armed Forces’ or he may squeeze in some other smaller projects. I will of course, be posting anything I hear about.

Domhnall on the other hand, has 6 films listed for 2017!
American Made is set for release in September and Stars Tom Cruise.
Already mentioned is Star Wars Episode VIII in December although I’m really worried that his character, General Hux, will be going down in a ball of flames with his ship!!
The other 4 films are all listed as in post production but have no release dates. Hopefully they will be released in 2017 but some may be release in 2018.
There is an as yet untitled A.A.Milne project where he plays A.A.Milne.

303

Crash Pad is about  a hopeless romantic who thinks he’s found true love with an older woman, only to learn that she’s married and that his fling is merely an instrument of revenge against her neglectful husband.
An as yet untitled Darren Aronofsky project which centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
And a futile and Stupid Gesture. Set in the 1970s and ’80s, about National Lampoon’s success and influence and how it created a new media empire overseen in part by the brilliant and troubled Doug Kenney.

Of course there are plenty of other films I’m looking forward to next year.

We have a new Spiderman to look forward to. He was introduced in the last Avengers movie and if that was anything to go by, then his stand alone movie is going to be good.
We have a new Bladerunner movie, a new Alien movie, a new Fast and Furious movie.
We have a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel which I’m REALLY looking forward to and another Thor movie.
Logan, Wonderwoman, Beauty and the Beast, The Mummy, Jumanji, Life, Kingsman 2, The Wall, World War Z 2. These are just a few.

I have to admit that I’m really looking forward to the new Justice League movie in November.
Ezra Miller’s movie ‘Flash’ may just become one of my favourite things. He’s adoreable!!

I can’t believe we still don’t have a title or teaser for Star Wars Episode VIII.
It now looks like Disney may be waiting for the release of their next juggernaut, Beauty and the Beast, to use it as a springboard for Star Wars advertising.
Beauty and the Beast gets released just before the big Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando in April so it makes sense that Disney will want to utilise it’s pulling power.

It’s still very frustrating though.

I am also looking forward to all the quiet films. The independent movies that whistle through the cinemas and hardly get a look in. Some of the best movies seem to just glide through with hardly a mention. Like Paterson!
What a stunning movie. It made it to a couple of local cinemas for a grand total of two weeks before disappearing to one or two cinemas in London.
It has only just been released in the US.
I can’t wait for it to hit Bluray in March.

I make no apologies for any gushing I do over the next year.
I intend to utilise my Cineworld card to it’s fullest.
I will attempt to enjoy 2017 and not let things get me down.
I fully intend to write more fan-fiction and yes… it may contain smut.
I will continue to embarrass my kids as I crash through my mid-life crisis.

It would appear that me and the hubster have the house to ourselves tonight!!
Murron is working at her favourite haunt, Esquires, and Marjorie and Dharma are utilising Nan and Grandad’s house while they are away in Brugges.
Marjorie has promised Dharma a takeout because she’s earning now.

So! Pact with the hubby. He’s turning off his tablet and PC at around 6 this evening and I’ll be turning off my PC at the same time. We are going to curl up and enjoy seeing 2016 kick the bucket.

BRING IT ON!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
