9 days left of annual leave.
What have I been up to so far?
Well, I’ve given the house a good clean from top to bottom in preparation for the annual rental agency inspection that we had this morning.
Now that’s out of the way I can really concentrate on getting ready for Xmas.
I have already managed to do some online shopping and the bulk of the Xmas presents are bought and wrapped.
I am going to MK with Mum and Auntie Karen on Tuesday so hopefully a few stocking fillers will be found.
Sunday is going to be spent baking sausage rolls for the freezer… if I can stop Marjorie eating them first!!
Tomorrow is probably going to be a nightmare!
I have promised to take Dharma and Marjorie into town to do some of their own Xmas shopping.
They don’t want to go together so I’m having to do it in two shifts!
Dharma in the morning and Marjorie in the afternoon.
Wish me luck!!
Monday will be spent putting up some decs before I have to take Dharma for a hospital appointment after school.
She has a hospital appointment on Thursday morning too!! Can’t stay away from the place.
Anyway, some time between Tuesday and Thursday I also have to put up my Auntie Karen’s tree and my Mum’s tree.
By Friday, I hope to be just about ready for Xmas.
Gives me a couple of days to relax and enjoy things for a while before getting back to work.
And I’ve only been to the cinema once!!
Today was my first full day of my annual leave.
It’s been lovely.
The thought of everything I have to do before I go back on 7th December makes me a little bit giddy.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be completing the Xmas shopping.
All presents will be bought and wrapped.
All baking will be done.
All trees and decs will be up.
The house will have had a deep clean ready for our annual rental agency inspection.
Today I did a little shopping.
I actually cooked a roast dinner for the first time in…. I can’t remember how long.
I actually made a start on Xmas.
I was feeling a little inspired after Dharma showed me a picture so I had a go at creating a table centre piece for Xmas day.
Right, now for a glass of vino and a movie.
God I’m so tired!!!
It’s my last shift on my second 50 hour week!!
I could barely move at the end of my shift yesterday and then last night, some moron decided it was a good idea to set off fireworks at 2am!!!
After that, the high winds and rain were enough to stop me getting back to sleep properly.
I am going to be a zombie today.
On the bright side, it’s a fairly light week next week and then I have some annual leave.
Only 5 and a half shifts to go before another 2 weeks off.
Frightening things is, that two weeks is my annual Xmas preparation time.
It’s frightening how quickly this year has gone.
Anyway, can’t think about that yet.
Having said that, I have already bought a few presents.
It’s getting harder and harder to think of things for the girls.
They already have everything they want.
I’m sure I’ll get some ideas soon.
Anyway, today was a relax day after 2 very long shifts.
I did have an important appointment to keep this afternoon though.
I went to the cemetary with my Mum, Auntie Karen, Auntie Kim Auntie Gwynn and Uncle Terry to see Nan’s ashes laid to rest in a small sanctum in a lovely part of the cemetary and right next to a bench.
I will admit, I did not expect to carry Nan’s ashes and actually place them in the sanctum myself and it kind of took my breath away a bit, but I’m glad I did it as I got to hug her one last time.
Anyway, I cheered myself up this afternoon with a couple of films and I think I’ll try and squeeze another one in before going to bed and an early start for work tomorrow.
Well what a miserable day it is today!!
Grey skies, horrible and wet!
I have been pondering what to do today and have come to just one conclusion.
Ian is in the middle of 5 night shifts so I can’t do any serious vacuum related cleaning.
The kids are all still in bed and I need to keep them quiet.
So, a quick trip to get packup stuff for the kids for school and some nibbles and then an afternoon on the sofa with a bottle of wine and a few movies is in order.
I am coming to the end of a 50 hour week and am about to go into my second one so I think a bit of relaxation is in order.
Especially as even the thought of relaxing over the next couple of weeks will be a luxury.
We’ve got our annual rental agency inspection on the 23rd so I have to make sure the house is in tip top condition.
All those niggly little jobs that I keep putting off will have to be done.
That’s fine by me because it means my house will be in tip top condition going into 2 weeks of annual leave.
My annual ‘get ready for Xmas’ leave.
A tidy house will mean I will be free to concentrate on Xmas.
All presents will be bought and wrapped.
Baking will be done.
Trees will be up.
All before I go back to work.
It’s a plan.
I just need to get motivated to move off this chair now.
For anyone wondering whether or not to get a Cineworld Unlimited card…….
I’ve just done some quick calculations for the year so far.
1 card costs £196.80 for the year.
We’ve have seen 55 films in the cinema so far this year.
We see most of them at Bedford or Milton Keynes.
If we take the adult cost of a ticket for both cinemas that would make a total of between £506 and £583.
Taking the cost of the card off of that total means we’ve saved between £309.20 and £386.20.
As a couple we have saved between £618.40 and £772.40!!!!
That doesn’t even take into account all the 3D supplement payments (that are included after 12 months on the card)
Or indeed the 20 – 25% savings at local restaurants and the 25% off food and drink in the cinema.
The cards allow us to see a film at the drop of a hat.
It allows us to go and see whatever we want whenever we want without worrying about the cost.
We have seen films we wouldn’t have ordinarily gone to see.
It doesn’t matter if a film is shit because we’re not losing money if we walk out half way through (not that that’s happened yet)
Financially and personally, getting these cards has been the best decision we’ve made in years!!
So don’t hang about and waste any more time.
Go for it!!
