OK, so last night I watched ‘The Fall’
I knew nothing about this film except what I’d seen on my Tumblr dash.
It looked interesting and so I gave it a go.
I was not disappointed!!
It is a bitter sweet story that Stars Lee Pace and a beautiful little actress called Catinca Untaru.
In a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient, a little girl with a broken arm, a fantastic story of five mythical heroes.
Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination, the line between fiction and reality blurs as the tale advances.
The scenes in the hospital are very monotone and quite depressing but the scenes played out as the story is being told are extremely vibrant and surreal.
My husband kept walking into the room during the story telling sections and now thinks I’ve watched one of the wierdest movies in history!
Lee Pace and Catinca Untaru obviously had a wonderful chemistry together whilst they were filming and it shows on screen.
Catinca is one of the cutest kids ever!!
The fact that Little Catinca is being used by Lee’s character to steal Morphine for him is heartbreaking.
When she is badly injured doing it, he can’t forgive himself and all she wants is for him to finish the story with a happy ending.
I can’t remember this film being advertised at all back in 2006.
I certainly don’t remember it doing the rounds in the cinemas.
That’s a shame.
This film was made for the big screen.
So if you need a big dose of escapism, this is definately the film to watch!
