IT HAS BEEN DECIDED

It has dawned on us that not only do we have Ian’s 50th birthday to celebrate next year, we also have our 21st wedding anniversary!

21 years!!!!

013 (2)

I just don’t know where all that time has gone.
Well we’ve decided to celebrate by having a week away.
Our favourite getaway since we got married has been York.
I love York.
Riverside walks.
Walls to walk.
An amazing cathedral that literally brings tears to the eyes.
Countless pubs.
A short drive to Whitby.
The North York moors and railway.

So watch this space…… TBC!!

Anyway, back to the now.
Going to put my feet up for a bit as I have to be up at 05:30 for work.
Today was actually a lot nicer than I expected it to be but I’m a little tired now.

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS AND LIFE IN GENERAL

Well it’s been a bit of a shock on the bad news front this week.

Anyone who reads my blogs regularly will know that one of my obsessions is Karl Urban.

This man has had a crazy work schedule over the last few years.
Filming and promoting two Star Trek movies, filming and promoting Dredd, filming Priest, And Soon The Darkness, Riddick, Walking with Dinosaurs, The Loft and over the last year he also took on a TV show.
All of that and he still does TV interviews, cameo appearances and attends countless conventions.
All of this work doesn’t leave much time for a home life and his home is back in New Zealand!
Well it would appear that his crazy life has finally taken it’s toll on his home life and this week it was announced that he and his wife of ten years, Natalie Wihongi, have taken the mutual decision to separate.

I must admit, I’ve had a feeling for sometime that something wasn’t quite right.
He’s lost a bit of his sparkle when he’s being photographed, he’s looking very tired and recently he’s cancelled quite a few convention attendances which is not like Karl at all.
He loves conventions both as a guest and an attendee so for him to back out of a string of them meant something wasn’t right.
Well now we know.

Poor Karl and Natalie.
They have two young sons so I hope that this is all sorted out for them with as little stress as possible for everyone involved.

OK, now the bad news is out of the way, I have a little good news.
I suppose it’s more like a bit of ‘feel good news’.

One of my favourite actresses is Amy Adams.
I love her as the new Lois Lane and think that Giselle in Enchanted is sickeningly adorable.

Anyway, it would appear that recently, on a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles, Miss Adams quietly gave up her seat in first class and gave it to a soldier from Economy!!
She took his seat in Economy.
She later stated ‘ I didn’t do it for the attention of myself, I did it for the attention of the troops’

Miss Adams comes from a military background and grew up on various military bases.

First class all the way: Amy Adams pictured with Ernest Owens, her seatmate in coach after she gave her first class ticket to a soldier on the same flight

‘Earnest Owens’ who was in the seat next to the soldier in Economy posted this selfie to Twitter stating ‘Amy Adams, first class all the way’

All I can say is, nicely done Amy!!

Right back to my life.
Not much to say really.

I’m still waiting for my English exam results.
We had a major spring clean of finances.
We’ve finally got a new fridge freezer arriving today, although the old one was well over 20 years old so can’t complain.
I need to make a start on the next part of my QCF but have been holding off until I have my Safeguarding update training at work on Wednesday because the section I’m working on is ‘Safeguarding!’

I might even change the curtain rods to curtain poles in the living/dining room today.
My life is excitement all the way baby!!

R.I.P. TERRY RICHARDS

Rest in piece Terry Richards!!

Who is Terry Richards I hear you ask?

Well Terry Richards was a UK Stunt man who helped make stars look good in many films.
His career started in 1957 and ended in 1999.
He worked on nine Bond movies and did stunt and double work on other films such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Rambo.
Other films included The Avengers, The Princess Bride, Zulu and The Dirty Dozen.

But probably his most memorable moment on film was in ‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark’ where he played the Cairo Swordsman, famously trying to goad Harrison Ford into a sword fight only to be shot dead.

These stuntmen are often the unsung heroes of our movies.
The Stars usual steal the show, but without the stuntman’s expertise and experience, a lot of our movie experiences wouldn’t be as realistic or believable.

So, R.I.P. Terry!!
You did some incredible work.
Thank you!

AND……CHILAX

The view from my patio, accompanied by a very large glass of vino.

Well, after a completely Shit weekend, feeling crap and curled up on the sofa, I made it through my two English exams today and I’m feeling quietly confident about them.
I should hopefully have some results by the end of the week.

Just to add to my good mood, we’ve had a spring clean of our finances. We’ve tidied up what’s spent and where and should ‘hopefully’ see some benefits come pay day on Thurs.

We’ve just enjoyed a lovely steak dinner and are chilling in the garden before an early night (where I get control of the TV… He he) and then work tomorrow.

Anyway, I’m not feeling too bad right now.
I’ve got a few weeks to go before I have 2 weeks off to completely to regenerate.
The hard bit of the early spring garden tidy is over so barring a little grass cutting and border tidying, I should be able to spend a lot of those two weeks like this….. Just sitting and blogging or reading in the garden.

I think we may be in for a bit of a storm tonight. It’s gone very overcast and it’s really muggy and warm. It needs to break and freshen things up.

Right, time to think about what I’m going to watch tonight and really wind Ian up with!! Lol
Joel or Karl, Joel or Karl?
I must have around 20 films or TV shows between them!!
Or do I go with something we haven’t watched before?

GETTING THERE SLOWLY

Still not feeling great but at least I’m not up chucking anymore.

I managed another bit of a lay in this morning, although the Moronic drunk teenagers who decided to take a break on their walk home by sitting on the neighbour’s wall and smashing what sounded like pop bottles around the crossing posts and screaming and laughing as if it was 3 in the afternoon and not 3 in the bloody morning, probably helped with the lay in this morning!!
That and the drunk young lady tootling down the street in 8 inch heels and sobbing and crying, ‘but you hurt me’ at her supposed partner at 2am!

One of the downsides of living on a main route home from town.

Anyway, another day curled up on the sofa and psyching myself up for the exams tomorrow.
I’ve taken a look at the City and Guilds website and taken a look at sample exams and to be honest I’m not that nervous about them now.
I’ve never done an exam on a computer before and I think that’s what was worrying me more than anything but now I know how they work I’m a little more relaxed.

I just watched Tron: Legacy on Netflix and then noticed a flaw in the service.
When you finish watching something, Netflix will make suggestions for things for you to watch based on what you’ve just watched.
Forgive me for saying, but on what planet does ‘Power Rangers’ even come close to ‘Tron Legacy’!!
I’m 44, not 14!!

Right, time for a snooze I think.

TOUGH WEEK OFF TO A BAD START

Murron had some fun last night.
She had planned an after exams party with a few of her friends.
I like Murron’s idea of a party.
They simply gather together, add a bit of food a drink and spend the evening in the garden chatting and having a laugh.
At midnight, they all cleared up what they could, dispersed and Murron and Arthur have said they will finish getting my garden back together this morning.
Murron even went and apologised to the neighbours before it started, just in case they made too much noise!

Yes, they were ripping up school work for the fire!!

Anyway, I went to bed and slept surprisingly well.
I got up for work, had a shower and then things took a rapid turn for the worse.
I started to feel very nauseous and was sick!
Completely out of the blue.
I was very green around the gills and ended up having to call in sick.

Something is definitely not right.
I went back to bed and slept in until 10am!
I haven’t slept past 8am for months.
Unfortunately I’m still feeling poo so it’s going to be a day snuggled on the sofa I think.

I just hope I don’t feel like this on Monday.
I’ve got to get through two English exams.

Feeling just a bit useless today.

TOUGH WEEK AHEAD

I felt like crap for most of today so I didn’t really enjoy work like I normally do.
I’m really tired now but I plan to chill for a while and attempt a lay in tomorrow.
I’ve got tomorrow off but I need to take a look at some online English exams to get ready for the two English exams I’m taking on Monday.
So I’m not really going to be switching off.
Then I’m working all weekend, taking my exams in Huntingdon on Monday and then working Tuesday and Wednesday.
So I won’t really get to switch off again until Thursday next week.

Oh well, at least the exams part of my QCF will be over and done with.
The rest I can work on at my own pace.

I’m going to have a house full of Murron’s weird and wonderful friends tomorrow evening for an after exams party.
I’m hoping the weather will be good. That way they’ll just spend their time chatting and having a laugh in the garden.
If the weather is bad then I’ve lost my living room and I will be exhiled to my bedroom for the night.

So there’s not much to look forward to over the next week.
I need to go and cheer myself up for a bit.
