They’re coming thick and fast now.
I’m in the middle of watching the 2010 version of Clash of the Titans with Marjorie and it occurred to me that one of my long term dishes was in it.
My interest started back in 2004 when he co starred in ‘King Arthur’ as Tristan.
Another Arthurian legend movie starring Ioan Gruffudd…. who come to think of it hasn’t hit my list yet!! Must put that right later.
Anyway, in the 2004 film, King Arthur, based on the Sarmatian connection theory of origin for the Arthurian legends, Tristan is a prominent member of the knights, who are Sarmatians serving under a half-Roman Arthur in the 5th century.
I next saw him as Le Chiffre in Casino Royale.
Bit of an arsehole who tried to poison Bond!
Then I found him as Draco in Clash of the Titans.
A warrior who assists Perseus to defeat the Kraken although sadly he loses his life to Medusa.
Then he popped up as Rochefort in the wonderfully over the top 2011 version of The Three Musketeers.
I love the Musketeers stories and Rochefort is a wonderfully slimy character.
He’s done lots in between but these are the films I remember him for.
He has now landed himself the role of Hannibal Lecter in the current TV series ‘Hannibal’ although I’m ashamed to say that this one hasn’t really caught my attention yet.
I may just have to download the first season and hit it in one go.
So there we are.
Strangely attractive with a lovely voice.
