Dish of the Weeks

This dish was the first dish to make it to 2 entries on my blog but he has been surpassed in the last few weeks by 3 entries for Karl Urban.
Karl will always be my number 1 dish but as we are now into 2013 and the promotional cog wheels have started turning for ‘Man of Steel’ I can quite legitimately blog about this dish.

Henry Cavill
Henry Cavill 3

I really haven’t seen a lot with this guy in.
As I said in ‘Dish of the Week #20’, he came to my attention in The Tudors with another one of my ‘Dish of the Weeks’, #18 Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
This was a stunning show that gave us the history of Henry VIII in a totally new and extremely sexy way. Bodice ripping was an understatement.

After that I caught a glimpse of him in the 2002 re-make of The Count of Monte Cristo.
This was a wonderful adaptation of one of my favourite stories.
Henry played ‘Albert Mondego’ and he was a very baby faced but incredibly handsome 19 years old when he took the part.

I didn’t really see him in anything else while he was filming The Tudors.
The show ran for 4 years and it gained him some attention because after it had finished he was offered the role of Theseus in The Immortals.
Theseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.
It was a very stylised film much like ‘300’ and Henry leaned up and muscled up for the part and proved that action could be very much on the cards for him in the future.

It was The Immortals that brought him to the attention of casting scouts for the part of Superman, a part he missed out to Brandon Routh on when it was last cast.
Before Superman would take over however, he had the chance for another action film.

As you can see from the above image he had started to bulk up for his biggest outing yet.
Superman in Man of Steel.

I am a HUGE Superman fan. I am really hoping this re-boot is as good as this trailer looks.
I hope we finally get to see more than one movie. My only worry is that they overshadow Henry’s Superman with Big name actors as the villains, taking the limelight much like the pre Christian Bale Batman movies did.

I now wait with baited breath for more official images and maybe some clips or new trailers.
It’s going to be a long wait.
146 days to be precise!
